So not being allowed to talk about other things on ATS isn't censorship?

Is censoring my threads or questions your intention?

That is not the point. The point is 'sex being discussed on ATS' regardless of whichever sort is the most distasteful. I similarly would prefer not to see threads about ''a question for heterosexuals...'' I guess there would be outrage as ''discrimination'' from certain factions if there was.

I think ATS is not the place for discussing sex /sexual preference. Simple.

and here i thought we were opposed to censorship. its not like sex is against the law. sex, if discussed maturely and intelligently, can be a very informative topic. on the other hand, sex can also ve very dangerous if you are NOT informed. and i would much rather discuss sex anonymously, personally. really takes a lot of that embarrasment out of the picture and opens up channels. of course there will be kids who cant have a productive conversation about sex. but we are not kids, and treating the forums as though the majority of ATS is still in elementary school will not help. theres a lot of other topics we might as well do away with while we are at it.

What? Seriously. What? When, er, where did I say that?

You think it's not the place? Hm. Maybe you should see if SO and Springer will let you rewrite the T&C. Or maybe.... there is another solution..........? Such as.......... don't participate in those threads?

ATS is broad enough that peeps can literally determine their own experience here. You can create an interesting and agreeable experience here by participating in those threads you find interesting and have some knowledge about, and disregarding the others.

The reason sex was off limits for centuries, and is an off limit discussion in some nations, is that it was considered....above top secret. Men never learned about a woman's main sex organ because it was never talked about in polite company or publications (you had to mix in impolite company and publications to find out about it, and I don't know if you can even say it here, but as Jerry Seinfeld taught us it rhymes with Dolores). So in terms of sexual topics, the above top secretness of letting other people in on the 'secrets' has been in effect throughout human history. Even my inadvertent namesake, Aleister Crowley, had to hide a main secret of entering magical consciousness within metaphor and hints (the above top secret he hinted at revealing in his Book of Lies is "69 while on hashish", and mods please edit that out if it is too vulgar or obscene, thanks).

Clearly you do not like my question. I have asked it regardless of your opinion. I would like clarification. Now if you would kindly back off from getting emotional and realise that such issues are contentious in their ethics and morals and the other forums that do, are not nice places to be.

The whole world is far too sexualised. Most of the media is saturated in porn of varying degrees, lewdness, ass shaking, immorality etc. and it's nice to have somewhere online that hasn't been brought down by it, until now.

I asked a question, clearly that question is not to your liking so you gripe about censorship, all the while ignoring my right to ask a question. Hypocrisy.

I agree. Most of what is considered "sexualization" is so common that it's boring. The true essence of sex is sharing worship and affection. People in todays western society are confronted with the things you mention, but seldom hear that the sex act is true worship and the main thing that people lack is giving affection (some people have sex their entire lives and never are able to really open up). So, bottom line, the sexualization we see in society is a yearning to give and receive affection, so much of it isn't even about sex.

So. Wait a minute. You don't like seeing sex or sexuality discussed online? Then unplug the computer and batten down the hatches, the world is full of sex talk. Sex puns, sex-originating slang, sex discussion, and it's really not for the worse. Have you never had a discussion with a close friend about your nethers? I have, we discussed cervix pain during sex. We both learned a few things from each other, and furthered the discussion through looking up more info online.
Have a laugh at a lewd joke, laughter is good for the soul. Learn about your hoo-ha (or can I just call it a vagina? Ok with you?) Knowing how everything works & why isn't a bad thing, and often dispels misinformation & flat-out falsehoods. I've mentioned the actual contents of menstrual fluid on ATS when it was clear a few posters didn't really understand the make-up. Was that crossing your line?

If someone started a thread asking "when did you know you were hetero?" would that have been acceptable? Or is that just as dirty as someone asking for some insight from others on their sexuality?

The motto of ATS used to be deny ignorance. Now it's Celebrate Ignorance, albeit unofficially.

nah, i really feel like this is more personal than professional on your part. its all "gay this, gay that" in your op. you singled out homosexuality, not one hetero reference. your distaste was aimed specifically at a particular demographic of sexuality, which is called discrimination. this thread is a request to silence homosexuals on the forum, or to put them in their own special little box so you dont have to acknowledge them. Nyiah puts my thoughts perfectly, check out her post above mine. my whole point is this: lets be fair.

See this is maturity. The ability to discuss without reservation the ins and outs (pardon the pun) of the reproductive organs and not feel personally insulted or sickened by it. I for one would rather have an informed conversation than a close minded one

WTH? Where do you keep coming up with this junk? I'm not ignoring anything! I'm on your freaking thread! I simply disagree with your premise that ATS should censor it's membership's topics because you don't like them!

God. READ what I write before you respond, and respond to what I actually said, and not what you make up that I said.

Surely it's not that difficult to comprehend.

ETA: Im bored now, watching your conversation with yourself.

But just so you will know: The Gay threads are not about sex. They are about Social Injustice. Just so you'll know. Please bear that in mind.
Thanks.

A Genuine Answer

In this, as in all matters ATS, we refer to the AboveTopSecret.com Terms And Conditions Of Use:

15b.) Profanity: You will not use profanity in our forums on the Websites, and will neither Post with language or content that is obscene, sexually oriented, or sexually suggestive nor link to sites that contain such content. You will also not use common alternative spellings or net-speak alternative for profane words.

Content and opinions that are not sexually explicit and are relevant to a given forum or topic, regardless of "orientation", are as valid as anything else posted on ATS, as long as they are posted in accordance with the terms & conditions.

Discussing the question of being "bi-curious" in the Relationships forum is as suitable as discussing any other type of relationship, since discussing relationships is what the forum is for, and is not problematic in and of itself.

Any member encountering sexually explicit content of any kind that violates the terms & conditions is encouraged to alert the staff to it and let us handle it.

Since we seem to be heading off into discussing other threads by proxy and bringing topical arguments from other forums into BB&Q where they don't belong, I'm going to close this thread. However, as always, if anyone disagrees with my doing so or anything else I might say or do, please don't hesitate to send me a private message and I'll be happy to talk about it.

And again, if anyone should see anything on ATS that violates the terms & conditions, please be sure to alert us and let us know.

Thanks!
