In connection with $50 million dollars in counterfeit silver certificates and $10K in fake U.S bills two men from Quebec have been arrested. Apparently, the certificates were claimed to have been issued in 1937, however, the RCMP discovered the validity of that claim stating no such bills ever existed in that time frame. There was also fake money totaling $2,500 found at the accountant's home.

Two Quebec men have been arrested in connection with more than $50 million US in counterfeit silver certificates and about $10,000 in fake U.S. bills.

The RCMP officer in charge of the bust says it's hard to imagine that any financial institution would have accepted some of the fake bills.

The $1 million silver certificates were made to look authentic, and were supposed to have been issued in 1937.

It is incredible to me the risks people will willingly take in order to obtain money or get over on someone with fake money. There has been a countless number of scams involving money in recent history and these people still will not learn they're lesson. I am willing to bet that these people involved in these scams just got caught. They probably have been getting away with it in the past in small doses. In many cases people just don't know their limits. If you're going to involve yourself in crime don't be stupid. But usually people who involve themselves in such things don't take advice too well anyway.

It has been belived for some time that the counterfeiting of U.S. bills has been state supported. It will be interesting to know if the Gov. manages to trace these bills back to a point of origen. Kina sad though really, just another reason to atack another country.

Last time I checked it wasn't. Espically a neighbouring country that was responsible for the bust. If your looking for reasons to fight, im sure your government would just stage some phony attack and claim we allowed it to happend.

Little digression. Anyone know what actually happened to the hundreds of millions of US dollars seized by the American troops some time ago in Iraq ?

it is probably the worlds second oldest profession... or maybe the first...
I have a fake 1932 half dollar coin that is made of die cast metal... the coin dealer didn't know if it was made for the silver value or as a fake half dollar... but he said they must have been pretty desperate to bother with counterfiet HALF DOLLARS... (of course, it was like a 10 or 20 dollar bill back then)
