I can't help but be reminded of a very scared person nervously laughing while everything goes to # around them. I have seen that happen before.
I'm not saying that this is the case, just saying that it does happen.

Oh thoses brainy New Yorker readers! They are so much more clever than the non-NYer citizens! I can see them now, sitting in their lofts sipping coffee while reading this article, with a little smile on their lips as they ponder the insanity of "regular" people. No doubt they are still btfd, and figuring out how to beat the "regular" crowd when the bottom falls out., (because they are so much smarter than the "regular" people).

I like the above poster with the Titanic reference. Very fitting.
