What is an instinct?

Any behavior is instinctive if it is performed without being based upon prior experience (that is, in the absence of learning)

Dressing to please men is based upon prior experience and learning.

i.e.: it's not an instinct.

I never said it doesn't happen, but if you can't understand why it's not an instinct based on a simple definition I can't help you more.
