There's claims of the Iranian Embassy in Damascus, Syria being blown up.

If true, this could be an indication of the fall of the Assad government.

If that happens, maybe Syria gets cut in half as in "East and West" Syria.

The West Syria government might be puppeted by Saudi Arabia and Qatar, then the natural gas pipeline gets built and goes to Europe.

But I bet Russia turns up the heat.

A mighty explosion struck the Iranian embassy in Damascus Wednesday night, May 20, debkafile’s exclusive intelligence and counter-terrorism sources reveal. First reports are of “heavy casualties” and serious damage to the embassy compound. The Iranian and Syrian governments have clamped a curtain of secrecy down over the disaster, although the thunder of the explosion and rush of special forces and relief teams to the scene in the Syrian capital could not be concealed.

debkafile’s sources add: The explosion has initially been attributed to the Syrian arm of al Qaeda, Jabhat al-Nusra. A day earlier, Tuesday, Ali Akbar Velayati, senior adviser to Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was known to be present at the embassy building in Damascus. It is not known whether he was still there when the explosion occurred or had meanwhile departed for Tehran.

Exclusive: Iranian embassy blown up in Damascus: Nusra Front suspected

can anybody confirm this?

It could also give Iran a reason to overtly jump into the fray and help defeat the opposition forces . I am sure they know that they will be next on the hit list of states to fall .

Iran is too arrogant to ever consider they could "fall".

Not so. Iran knows full well that they are always at risk of being taken over. They fight back hard every time they are threatened.

They've also been stepping-up their game in regards to ISIS.

So I wouldn't be so quick to make such a statement.

How has Iran "stepped-up" their game against ISIS? Please, I would like to know?

Or is it they have stepped-up using them?

Have you ever lived there? Been under the thumb of authority there? Try it sometime. Then and only then will I recant my statement.

Everything I find is linked back to the Debka story so far.
Still looking.

Do we have confirmation yet? Why would someone go after the Iranian Embassy in Syria?

If #ISIS related groups are moving on Damascus, then Baghdad likely won't be far behind, they'll probably take both in quick succession once they've figured out how to run both countries as one.

The build up of US troops in Iraq requested by Republicans might be a moot point pretty fast.

When Iraq and Syria fall, Saudi Arabia won't be far behind.

Iran has been very vocal about their opposition to ISIS and has said that if someone doesn't take care of the problem, they will when they come to their doorstep.

What does living in Iran have to do with it? A little research will show that they understand their position and are at risk from many threats.

You're post was an incorrect assumption.

Debka posted this 2 hours ago. Not one other source has mentioned it.

I wonder if debka will retract the lie from its site.

As vocal as against nuclear weapons? againys supporting the Houthis? or Iraqi dissidents? etc. etc. etc.

They are not against ISIS, just want to control the movement.

Also, as a question...so the US can say "if not taken care of.." we will show at your door? Ah....double set of tired standards.

Irrelevant to the discussion at hand. That's called a red herring logical fallacy. You're changing the original topic at hand.

They are not against ISIS, just want to control the movement.

Extraordinary claims must be backed by extraordinary evidence. I'd like to see the proof you have for that.

Defending oneself when a threat comes to their door is completely different than taking the fight to someone else's doorstep.

I'm failing to follow your logic in this post.

Since this is my area of expertise, my sources in Yerusalem have confirmed that a event has taken place.
To what extent remains to be seen.

I've looked on CBC, BBC, Fox, Drudge, CNN, Telegraph, IHT, NYT, Jerusalem Post, Haaretz, AussieBC and RT and no word of this anywhere.

Either it's false or other than Debka, it's entirely blacked out from the rest of the world. I'll probably choose option one.
