Mom Arrested, Shackled, Jailed Because Her Honor Roll Son Had 3 Unexcused Absences at School

Okay this is just stupid, a Georgia mom was arrested because her son (who had all As and Bs) had 3 to many unexcused absences at school.

Why is arresting mom even an option, and how does it solve any problems? If the kid has all As and Bs and is on the honor roll he is obviously keeping up and getting his education. So why does it matter how many days he misses? Who does it hurt? And why the F@@@@ would mom have to go to jail?

Sometimes it seems like I live in a different country then the one I grew up in....

I understand your title is taken from the source, at least one of them but neither article states she was shackled. Agreed that it is a little on the absurd side or a lot on the absurd side but so is the source sensationalizing their title to get more hits. It is basically all about the money as I am sure there are court cost involved and some sort of fine.

now on to the student being absent. if your going to enforce the unexcused absence rule for one then all should have to follow it regardless of grades.

Parents should be livid, and I'd bring back tar and feathering for mayors, police chiefs, school boards and city counsel. Or introduce them to it.

Insanity. I used to miss 20-30 days a year. I took off nearly every Tuesday unless I took off Monday and Wednesday instead and still had enough credits to graduate a year early. High School was boring.

Yeah, I was in the Principles office a few times but arresting people is insane.

That's one way to control the population--make having kids so much of a godawful damn pain in the ass that no one wants to do it anymore.

Who needs this kind of liability?

I can't get the wfsb site to load and the other article is a huge POS. How old is the kid? My opinion is going to be swayed a bit by the age.
