The government is going too far here. They should not be able to force her into hooking up to county sewer/water either.

BTW the story is confusing:
"10 years ago the city sewer line flooded her home with 10,000 gallons of raw sewage. There was a settlement, however the city/county wants her to hook back up to the county sewer system, but Larson does not want to, and would rather hook up to the septic tank system on her property. The county doesn’t want that, and is forcing her to hook-up to the city sewer."

Is it the county or the city?

Ingred Larson received an eviction notice from the county today. Why? For living in a tent on her own property. Yes. Really. She is being evicted for living in a tent on her own land.

www.fromthetrenchesworldreport.com...
A city in Florida recently tried to do this to someone. Robin Speronis This is dated july 2014. As far as I know, she is still in the off grid home. They did some horrible things to her, but I hope it backfired on the city and they leave her alone.
I hope the same happens for Ingred Larson. However, I am not sure Ingred Larson has the knowledge aabout living off-grid to even help her fight the city. She will have to be able to answer what she is doing with 'black water' , how she is cooking, lighting and powering in ways that aren't dangerous. She can't dump sewage into the ground or in bags into the garbage. That kind of thing does impact others. If she works on alternatives that might meet some of the codes, she will have a chance before a judge.

This is indeed a bad, even horrible, situation. ...and hardly unique to this woman.

Out of control govt.? Gee, how odd.

Now then, what's to be done about it? I mean other than screaming about how horrible it is...

Oh, but that might actually entail some form of involvement and work on our part...

lol dude. America is not the land of the free, its the land of the fee and has been ever since its inception. I have been to Europe and seen how some of them live, even among the poorer places they have more freedom then the people here.

# was talking yesterday with an polish guy who said even back in communist times in his country he did not have to work two jobs and never any time for anything and the bulk of those two jobs are just there to pay taxes and living expenses. Basically he is living and working just to pay for necessities and basic things which even back 50 years or so in communist era were none existent. From what he told me they did not even have to pay property tax, so literally most of the land there in was basically passed down from family members to family members for generations, and people when they bought land they were responsible for it, but they did not have the government or anybody breathing down there neck to get there cut of it.

But now I suppose capitalism will finish were communism left off. Its what they call progress.

Though now there moving in slowly into every area all over the globe, eventually this madness will be everywhere. I heard the UK is now starting to fell the pressure, and well you know now we got big corps like Monsanto in place like Ukraine now, soon the farmers there will wake up and find out they now have to pay a fee for planting there crops when previously they were doing it for free, and if they don't, here comes the tax man with blackwater/xe in tow to make sure everybody stays in line and in conformance with government mandate, and you can guess who will be writing that mandate and the rules and regulations.

Eventually they will wake up one day and realize they are slaves and indentured servants on there own land.

I think this whole system can only really work here in the US were we got the landmass and infrastructure to dilute the madness. That or places like China and India were they are basically state sanctioned bots and the populous is not even capable and has been conditioned for ages to not think beyond that, but in other places....Oh boy do they have another thing coming when globalism and this new ages takes effect on them.

Excellent points. It also brings up another controversial issue, government involvement in climate change policy. They keep passing laws and taxes to control our carbon output. Well, if they were really concerned about the environment and going green, well, you can' get any greener than living in a tent. No carbon footprint. They would also be rapidly encouraging alternative housing set ups, such as eco villages, tiny houses, ect. But we see in many cases, they do the opposite, and force you to get connected to their proverbial teat, pollution and all. You're only allowed to be green within their pre-determined limits.

Pretty f****g ridiculous. So if I buy land with the sole intent on establishing a permanent camp, they can evict me from it? How in the Aich E Double Hockey Sticks does that work? ...It's almost like it ISN'T my land...

The truth is that "zoning ordinances" are the #1 job killer in the US. You may think that is an exaggeration, but it is not.

This is what gets me with this kind of stupidity, punishing people for setting their own systems which have much less impact on the environment...

This money system is so destructive and yet those who benefit financially just do not care.....sad state of affairs....

There is such a thing as the property owners not owning the lands BELOW ground they own, built on and developed....due to the gov. owning mineral rights. But, doesn't seem right that zoning laws or not...that they can evict her from her own property.

They can keep her from living in the tent as its not a "structure" per se, but I think she'd still own the law and not be thrown out of owning it.

Interesting part is you CAN file a mining claim in the western states on your land and then you have the mineral rights.

It's not mob rule, it's a social contract and by wanting to live like a civilized person, she should have to follow civilized law. Like I said, if you have trouble operating within the confines of society and the rules that people expect to come with it, don't pretend to be a part of society. It really shouldn't be too difficult for you to understand.

Ahhhh.......social contract. Funny thing about contracts. Both parties have to be aware that the contract exists in the first place. I have never seen this supposed "contract", nor do I even know the wording a terms. And for a contract to be valid, it must be signed. And I definitely didn't do that.

This invisible "social contract" is totalitarian nonsense to justify excessive statism and intrusion.

I understand you don't want civil, property, personal, human rights to be pissed on, but, we don't get to pick and choose which laws, social mores, norms, etc we get to follow when we want to be part of civilized society.

Like hell we don't. It's how civilizations grow, change, and develop. Breaking the rules and flipping the finger to the law and power is how this country got started in the first place. Immoral or unethical laws should always be broken.

History was made by people who told the authorities to shove their "social contracts" where the sun don't shine, and broke all sorts of laws.

Socrates
Rosa Parks
Martin Luther King
Jesus
Galileo
Tyndale
Martin Luther
Nelson Mandella
Gandhi
The Founding Fathers

Lighten up and loosen the jackboots a little, eh?

You signed that contract the minute you decided to be a productive member of society. You joined this group of people that are hopefully advancing towards a common goal. You decided to stay in this group where there are laws and rule and societal norms and mores. Take a look at your life and feel free to tell me that you are not a part of society. That you are not following unwritten as well as written rules. Everyone likes to pretend they are Rambo on here, but I would doubt any actually follow the lifestyle they preach on here. lol It is quite funny really.

So if a pretty female(or male) happens to wander on your property you are free to do what you want with them? No. Their are certain expectations of people that WANT to be a part of civilized society agree to a set of unwritten rules, as well as written rules. Having trouble understanding? Go to your local town office or law library and read the rules and laws agreed upon by the people that you voted in.
Lighten up? What is that supposed to mean by explaining society to someone that obviously doesn't understand it?
Loosen up the jackboots? Im guessing you are meaning jackboot tactics rather than talking about a boot? Please explain how jackboot tactics has anything to do with me describing society?

I don't understand at all why *anyone* in the US believes we are a free country when you need permission from the government to put up a fence. I guess most people are communists and are too dumb to know their own beliefs. Most people seem to support the system. Its bizarre. When I learned about these permits, I was perplexed about how anyone could accept this idea and believe the US is anything but a communist country.

And people tell me the United States is the failure of capitalism? When was there capitalism in the USA? I know there isn't now and its obviously socialism, communism, and basically everything but respect for individuals or their property.

You don't understand? I'm not a communist. But I do understand that accepting the benefits of living in a society means that I can't do everything I want to do just because I want to.

I do enjoy my rights but I do understand that my rights end where yours start. Am I a communist?

It is a crime to live free in the United States. It is a crime to have privacy. Wake up people. Our government have become tyrannical, it is time for another 1776 again.

Just give it a few more years, kinetic power will be a huge kick in the face to public utilities when everyone can make enough power to live by doing nothing extra but living.
