You are correct imo. This is more speach intended to inflame and divide. United we stand, divided we fall. We are presently dividing into many fractions under this admin: race, class, political, religious...just in time to force an intervention and enforce a new less personally liberating constitution.

Screw them all, until they stop oppressing

I had NO idea.

Wow.

That sorta blows my mind.

Actually, I'm not surprised now that I think about it. They would have been the dominant force in schooling prior to and post public school systems. Probably gave a better value education too since public schools have always been garbage.

Go look around and see. School vouchers is one. There are many other instances.

Someone says that we need to look at the context of what is said, and that is apologizing? I think that we should always be sure to put things in context when having a constructive conversation.

I can also understand the "mouth-breathers" comment because any thread about Obama is flooded with people that don't even look at context of the issue. They just bash Obama instantly and make the typical anti-Obama statements.

For those of us that enjoy an honest, productive conversation, it is distracting and counterproductive.

Perhaps contextual understanding as related to the reader falls on the shoulders of the author? You seem to think quite highly of yourself.

fact is the Prez doesnt practice anything near what he preaches.

Nobody should have any remaining doubts on his communist roots after that statement.

This is among the most ignorant things he has stated.

Sure it hurts kids to be around mediocrity when the cream of the crop has removed itself from the student body, but there is a reason for it, the system is a failure and holds them back.

Anyone with a kid these days that sees how they are teaching simple math, for example, knows how dumbed down the system has become. Ghetto math, socialist structure, politically correct materials...parents are opting their kids out.

Instead of whining and pushing a socialist solution, find and implement a real solution that actually challenges kids to learn and benefit from their schooling. The Janitors, ie custodial engineers, probably feel better about their school jobs than the teachers do.

One of the main reasons Obama opposed a voucher program is because the GAO stated that the US government and the Dept of Ed does not have the means to ensure the money is spent where is should be spent. They have no way to prevent fraud.

Seems like a logical reason to oppose it, right? Wouldn't want welfare mamies spending school money on bling or anything, right?

Again, hardly an attack. You made the statement, now back up your claim with more "instances".

Public schools in America were not always garbage, once we were at the top of school education in the world, what happen? well cuts in funding and stupid laws.

Now US thrive in confident children that are told they can do and be anything even if they are dirt poor as long as they believe in themselves, creating a generation of over confident children that are dumb as crap, because education has gone to crap also.

But US still ranks top on higher education universities and colleges.

Yes, we are now more divided as a country that never before, people are now starting to see how bad the division rally is, when even the very poor are complaining, the welfare state has grown incredibly but people are not happy, because no everybody like to live on hand me downs, many wants to work to make a living and feel useful.

Hammer and nail, Marg.

Also the fact that it is extremely hard to fire bad teachers. Nearly impossible, in some cases.

All of these were, and still are, contributing factors in the decline of America's public education.

They have the same opinion alright, when it comes to push political agendas, we are already a very divided nation, do we need more fire? or we need actions.

When it comes to actions no politicians or political rats have the answers.

But that can't be right. Obama and most of the Democrat congressmen, along with a lot of the blue-blood Reps, went to private schools - the best money could pay for.

Here you go: Punahou School. I believe this is the evil, anti-government establishment that our esteemed President Phone and Pen himself went to.

Now, no one can honestly tell me that he is anti-government in any way.

What about the rest of Congress?

Also the NEA was infiltrated by socialists and progressives. They don't want children learning, they want them brainwashed.

What else is left for children this days, Seagul? when education has failed them, well drill them enough confident so they can feel good about themselves in their none existent future of failure.

That now along with reality is brewing anger and we see that anger spilling all over due to the social injustice that the new generations are facing this days.

I'll agree with you on that. When I was in public school, my public school district was part of the best of the state in academics and athletics. It was why my parents moved to the town I grew up in. I will still speak with pride about it and the opportunities we were afforded there.

But it is to my crying shame that I will also admit that there is no way in hell I will let the public schools anywhere near my son without drastic changes to what that same public school system has become today.

If we can't private school, we'll find a way for the two of us to homeschool.

Let me guess, you've got kids in school???

That's the way it's been for about, oh close on 40 years now... It was beginning when I was still in school. I remember in elementary school a couple of my friends were flunked because they wouldn't/couldn't do the same work as the rest of us...they were too busy being tough guys.

Then while I was in junior high, that just seemed to stop. True idiots still moved up through the grades and graduated with me, despite barely being able to read at a level I could handle in fourth grade. Or math. Yet come graduation day, there they were standing in line to get a diploma that they'd have trouble reading.

But boy howdy, their self esteem was off the charts... I wonder if it still is???
