Yes I know. Just hope they have enough water and proper shelter if they are ok still. If they were last seen in an area with a river. Then water will be OK if clean enough, or a creek with good flow. They have tarp. But rice will be hard to cook...

With no signs of fires ( from crash or man made ) or any crash debris though. Like they said. Very rough terrain. Search and rescue should have been close enough and noisy enough to get a flare or 2..

I found a news article from Dallas. They edited it though so now his brother talked about finding him last night before the text came in.

I believe this is what you were referring too.

No, our rescue team is having to be rescued by other people from their unit using the same equipment.

There's always a risk when you break a helicopter down and transport it that something is going to go wrong on the other end.

A CNN article this morning said that ground search teams have the best chance of finding them. There are places air teams just can't see into because of terrain.

Thanks Zaphod. I just got back to this. I needed sleep and had work to do.

Edit: Chris's education is most impressive. And holding a dual certification for a plane and helicopter.
Zaphod, when I ask you if I should start this thread. Did you already know about Chris? Or did fate get you here?

They're flying in two more Hueys to replace the two there. One is from the same unit, the other is from Jacksonville, NC. The two on scene need to undergo scheduled maintenance.

Is that info from PACOM on the replacement/maintenance status?
Also edited my previous post asking about Chris.

No, I honestly had no idea about him. A day or so after this thread was posted that was posted in the group I'm in.

It comes from various sources, including FlightGlobal. They're flying them on two Hickam C-17s. The one from HMLA-469 arrives tomorrow. The one from HMLA-269 will arrive the next day.

Gosh. Then it's a great big small world for you. I can't imagine it not taking much longer before media gets a list of names. Hopefully all families have been told by now.
