I am going to vote Conservative.

I am not going to try and convince anyone to do the same and any attempt from anyone either here or in the real world to disuade me will be fruitless.

I was born into the miners strikes in a mining community destroyed by Thatcher.

I hate the fact that Thatchers govement privatised our national industries and pretty much despise what they did in every way.

After a lifetime of hating the Conservative party I am now going to vote for them.

I am stunned at my decision but thats the way it has gone.

I need a beer.

I sent my postal vote back last week and for the first time too I voted Tory for the local elections and UKIP for the main election. Probably a wasted vote as I live in a Labour guaranteed seat.

Had my local Labour MP at my door last week, don't think he'll ever come back after nipping his ear for half an hour, but it was a very interesting conversation.

I think a lot of folk have been put of Labour because of Ed. Had his brother been the labour leader then Labour would have won a majority. Ed makes my skin crawl, was made leader of the party because of the unions despite David winning the Labour members vote!

That is kind of what happened to me.

I hate the likes of May, IDS, Osborne, Johnson and Cameroon.

But my local Conservative MP is the only candidate that represents my views and has a decent track record. And the labour candidate is a toff!

And the thought of returning to the labour years fills me with horror! Do we need more social engineering? Bad spending and war?

I will not tell a lie, your thread about voting for the best candidate for your area played a small part in my decision.

I have my reasons, I just have to come to terms with them now.

Gortex.

I have a similar plan if UKIP fluke some big numbers.

I will come back after it's all over and see what's left.

Well, luckily I have the SNP, and the only reason I'm voting them is obviously for independence.

I doubt they will get more than 10 seats. I am betting 6.

Unfortunately there are some desperate community's out there that need a voice and its a mess of the making from Labour and Conservatives.

At the end of the day the only wrong choice is the Greens

Apart from them Labour, conservatives , SNP or Lib dem's let the best candidate win.

I just wish people like May and IDK lose there seat. Without the old school torys the conservatives might not be too bad of a party. But I could say the same about labour if they lost some of there toffs and Blair bandits.

What you don't say there is that Thatcher had the spymasters MI5 spying on the miners, and she didn't just destroy the mining community alone, she destroyed much of Britains industry.

IMHO I think the UKIP vote is down to the only party in the UK against the EU. Those of us old enough to have voted back in the seventies to join the common market, only voted for a common market, not to hand over political powers to unelected officials.

It makes me mad that the bankers at the ECB have diplomatic passports!!!! WTF!

Our countries membership to the EU was the most important reason for my vote.

As I said I grew up in the aftermath of what happened, I lived through the implications of her actions and heard the stories when I grew older.

The thing is it's the same party but a different time and at some point you have to put the past behind you and look at things with an impartial view.
