New rules to provide help for France's intelligence services trying to prevent Islamist attacks have been approved by parliament.
The Socialist government says the law is needed to take account of changes in communications technology.
But critics say it is a dangerous extension of mass surveillance.
The government says it wants to bring modern surveillance techniques within the law rather than outside any system of control.

We in France are not happy about this at all...

NO way do we want to become how many citizens of the USA have become... (or even other countries throughout the world come to think about it!)

But saying that (above), we probably already are as the NSA have had their fingers in many pies recently n'est pas?)

Barstards...

Expect to hear news about mass protests, strikes etc in France shortly...

Which is sensible inasmuch as it creates a system of public oversight and control...the ability to watch the watchers.

It's dumb though, because if they think the 'publicly accountable' spying programme is going to be the only programme, they are dreaming.

«Je suis Charlie» A Quick guide to fool the masses ...

Oh, the horror... the drama... the tragedy.

Well played, indeed.

Note:
They even publish job vacancies for "media producers and/or directors" to enhance their video killings...

Basically I think it is just Françoise Hollande and his Gvt brown nosing the current US administration because France won the big tender for this :

France and Qatar have inked a 6.3-billion-euro ($7-billion) deal on the sale of Rafale fighter planes to the Gulf state. It's another breakthrough for France's Dassault company which has struggled to boost exports.

More here : www.dw.de...

Methinks that the current US administration are a little annoyed for not winning the tender?

Just a thought?

France seems to be going down the NWO toilet. They seem to be easier to manipulate by the MSM than the Americans across the pond.

France is very much apart of the western establishment paradigm. . And the implementation of the Order of this New World we live in.

Maybe one day, little brother will get the hint and overwhelm this so called "big brother".

It actually creeps me the f* out they surveillance most humans on Earth. If only our "leaders" put money and investment in things that changed the world and make a difference.

Ahh I'm parroting the same # different year.. I digress.

Nope... you are wrong there.

The French population are not easy to manipulate... the proof is in all the strikes and mass demonstrations all you people around the world may see on TV or on YOUR MSN screens that you choose to trust!

The French populace will not give in to what the US or their puppies want them to do... François Hollande has only 2 years left as president and the French people are going to make his Gvt life hell if he forces a law through like this!

The difference is that the French population are not afraid of being shot at whilst demonstrating their freedom of speech.

Vig... I am a Brit with over 25 years living in France married to a French lady...

The truth does not hurt... Unless one lacks tolerence and ignores cultural differences?

Sorry, I was out of order. It's not the people, it's those controlling them. Same goes for England and most elsewhere. As for the French government, they're causing a lot of trouble and that's where I have a problem.

Paix.

Vigilia, your apology is more than accepted and sincerely appreciated...

And my apologies for my late reply.

The thing is, with remarks like the one you posted (unintentionally) we as humanity will not get anywhere apart from going back into the dark ages unless we learn to tolerate each others cultural differences... So many other citizens of "other" countries think they are the dominant and culturally higher people.

And yes, you are totally right... for the past 20 years each French Gvt in place (whether they be left or right) have not managed to get it together for those gullible enough to vote them in!... A bit like other countries methinks!?

Glad I have no right to vote here as I would have my head up my arse by now looking for a compass to show me the way to a far away Universe!

Progressives hard at work protecting us from the evil in the world by taking away freedom and liberty. Fear is the weapon of choice for progressives because it works. Many have bought into the lies and live in so much fear they are willing to give up personal freedom just to be safe.

When the rights/safety of the masses are put before individual rights tyranny will follow. It is a never ending cycle that can only be broken when people understand what individual rights means. Thankfully for the PTB ideology and stupidity rule the masses.

I don't like the idea, I don't know anyone who does.

On the other hand, everyone here finds it easy to criticize the way they've handled things so far. We've had numerous attacks (the Charlie Hebdo thing, the kosher deli, the shooting spree on jewish children by Merah....) in which afterwards, we hear the authorities were aware of these individuals, and surveying them, for years before their acts.

So people ask, wtf? THe DRRI KNEW these people were having contact with terrorist groups, knew they were taking trips to Pakistan for training and indoctrination, and yet did nothing to prevent them from carrying out these acts? What imbeciles!

Faced with such hard criticism from the masses, they are pressed to show they are going to make more effort.
This is always the dillema people in power have to face - the demand for protection at the same time as the demand for freedom.

I'm just an observer, I am not french and don't have any right to take part in their choices for their country. I wonder where this will lead? The french government is notorious for making laws and regulations that are more statements of values than actual actions. It is not because a law is made that it is actually enforced. The french like big statements as a way of making points, action is sort of secondary and not necessarily important.
