Blackfinger I have a sneaking suspicion you are not only geographically close to me but know more than you have let on, yes they were loaned jacks.
Maybe we should chat? Sadly the majority of the sheeties are now gone. Thank god we still have some composite/Golf boys left. A repair scheme has been
finalized and there is a hard date that needs to be met as the 747 replacing it on the LAX run is going to run out of hrs/cycles on some deferred
tasks very shortly after, they have already deferred its C check.

I would love to, but perhaps not publicly just yet. I know of a guy who was stood down once years ago for 7 weeks because he released pics and spoke
about a landing argument between a 747-400, a rain soaked runway and an equally soggy golf course! He at least found time to paint his house while
serving his penance.
Long time ago in a Galaxy far far away I can remember a 747SP with a leg up through the wing after a "heavy" landing at KS and also of an Illusian
Vc10ski that had its wingtip torn off by an errant truck driver over at Cargo, resulting in the fuel dump well dumping fuel..Least the crew got a case
of beer and some Penthouse mags to take back with them.Plus a red rat on the repaired tip

It has everything to do with the phasing out, although they have stepped back a bit in recent weeks and are not confirming that it is true, but of
course it is. The reality is they are bleeding cash and the A-380's need to be full to be profitable and earn their keep, I doubt they are for MAS at
this time. Whats more the reported long term mismanagement at MAS has totally failed to understand the operational realities of the A-380 because they
were lazy and stupid enough to believe the salesman bull*hit that Airbus clowns like John Leahy sold them. They simply didn't comprehend what it
needed and how to run it.
Really sad actually. Because 6000 people are now going to loose their jobs due to incompetence and cold accounting measures.

Yes I remember that 747SP accident, UA wasn't it? I think we rebuilt the wing gear in what was once our landing gear shop, pity we dont have that
anymore. IIRC the accident was caused by a failure to service the upper grease nipples that have always been a pain in the ass to reach and sometimes
forgotten by slack engineers.
I remember the Russians as pretty much always being drunk and disregarding "no smoking" protocols while refueling.
The short term plan is to phase out two aircraft. No word on the rest though. It's believed they're in talks with Turkish but they haven't confirmed
anything.

Nailed it mate.Yep I was left slack jawed on seeing the landing gear being snapped like it did.A very much "Oh crap" moment for the passengers on that
side. The Greenacres rear bulkhead corrosion find was a good one too.
Yes the Halcyon days at the Jet Base was a toy shop to us young Snorks.I started of in 191 and ended up over in Interiors doing partition mods and
other fun stuff.
Feel sorry for Malaysian operators.Seems pretty rough of Airbus to make those claims and not back them up.

Of note yesterday, for the first time since their early operational proving flights I observed a MAS A-380 at Sydney on the cargo ramp. When I raised
the subject with a colleague today he said he heard we were looking at buying them and had inspectors and tech services specialists on board to take a
look. Apparently MAS is going to fly others to Sydney to allow us to take a look.
And right on cue is a story about United Airlines position on the A-380
Flight Global story. Makes for an interesting argument
about frequency over capacity for some operations is king. And therefore why some will never operate the A-380. MAS should have thought about this. It
also mentions the still unsold Skymark whitetails.
