Bernie Sanders out-raises Republicans in first day of campaign

It’s a strong performance for a candidate many pundits have dismissed as fringe, outpacing Republican candidates who have recently announced. Sen. Marco Rubio raised $1.25 million in the day after announcing his campaign, Sen. Ted Cruz raised $1 million, while Sen. Rand Paul raised about $750,000.

The self-declared democratic socialist from Vermont will oppose Hillary Clinton in the 2016 Democratic Party primaries. He's declared he won't accept money form Super PAC's or billionaires and will instead depend on individual donors. The first primary is set to take place in Iowa next January.

I support Bernie and believe he's the only real choice the average person has in the next election.

Nice to see a person being sponsored by non big business. The amount raised is dire compared to Hilary? From what I understand.

There needs to be a cap on the funding with full transparency of donors.

Well I know very little about him but he claims to be a Socialist. I don't want the same ole thing but I don't want a Socialist either. Vermont can keep him. Since he has no chance what so ever of being the nominee of either party and no chance of running as an independent, I suppose I don't have to worry.

It doesn't matter who runs does it? You'll appear to be given a choice of two puppets already selected by the real rulers of this world. You have no choice, it's all a sham. Why do you participate in this farce? I wish people would wake up and see this scam for what it really is.

Kind of unfair to write the guy off so quickly without knowing anything about him, isn't it?

Plenty of information there on any number of topics.

Sanders is going to get my vote in the primaries.

He's against the Patriot Act.

That's the only issue I'm really concerned with.

The Patriot Act has brought us DHS, TSA, NDAA.

Sanders says he'll repeal the act.

QED.

I can't bring myself to vote for a socialist, but.... I will be voting for a third party nominee. I have no idea which one yet.
No longer voting for either of the 2 major parties. It's the only way I know of that we could possibly change Washington.

Good to hear! To think... Beezzer and I might be voting on the same candidate.

You still owe me a bottle of scotch from last election's Romney bet but I'll call it square if Bernie gets in.

U2U me your address, I never welch on a bet, if I owe you, I owe you.

As to my voting, sometimes you have to pick and choose your battles.

I've since quit drinking so...

In any case, I asked for Clan MacGreggor scotch which is super cheap and we agreed that the loser would have to drink it so, actually, if you want to not welch on the bet, you have to buy it and drink it yourself.

This I'll have to welch on.

I'd never sully my liver with something so trivial.

Yeah, I wonder how much of the billions of missing State Department, er I mean, Clinton Foundation money she is going to use for her campaign?

Cheers - Dave

Kind of surprised to hear you're a registered Democrat, unless you live in one of those 20 something states with open primaries...

Sanders says he'll repeal the act.

And so did the current commander and chump. I hope (if elected) he stands by his word and not give us patriot act 3.0 because 1 and 2.0 had a lot of bugs in it.

Nice going, needs to be more support there as opposed to letting Clinton reign. There are two worries I'm hearing from people, his age that that they see him as only a socialist. Really, such a worry under this crony capitalism? Figure most should look into more here if they are considering voting for Hilary or even us Independents questioning-one source-who to vote for.

Bernie is one of the possible candidates I will vote for. That list is pretty small.

The list for those I absolutely will not vote for is pretty long.

I had to check.

You are right.

I can't vote in the primaries as a registered Independent in my state. (forgive me, I'm new here) Will have to do something about that.

Nice Jewish name

Yes he IS Jewish. And that matters because? People even call Hillary a Zionist (also, Biden really is and not Jewish), if that's what is alluded to. And if you mean by socialism, I'd assume most people know that he goes under Democratic Socialism.
