In wake of the Freddy Gray's death normally I would not post something like this as it's too soon. But this recording came from 1978. It shows that black death by white cop has been a problem for a very long time. Myself I try to find humor in everything even when it hurts.

Richard Pryor discussed a very serious issue that was near and dear to him. I like his approach, I'm sure many more people took notice of his opinion because he expressed it with humor. I am not positive that it still applies but at the time opinions like these forced the LA police to resend the chokehold maneuver.

Warning: this video contains F bombs and the N-word. But hell if you know Richard Pryor that's exactly what you expect from him. Very funny video will take about one minute of your time.

Like I said I like to add humor to very serious situations to lighten the mood. I also like to combine meaning with my statements. My meaning for this thread is that obviously we've talked about it since 1978 yet we still have the same problem.

Lol I live Richard Pryor's humor. Especially when paired with Gene Wilder.

As with all comedy I'm afraid it's funny because there's a hint of truth to it.

Humor is funnier when it does have a hint of truth in it. I always felt that things are funny because on one level or another it hurts. And you can truly show an open mind when you laugh at something that deep down hurts.

I love Richard Pryor, that being said, nearly twice as many white folk were killed by cops last year.

I am well aware of that fact. Before you get all indignant maybe you should read a earlier post of mine.

I just think the riots are endemic to poverty rather than race. The race issues seem to ignite fever and gain more

There is a part of Cincinnati called East Price Hill. The people that live there have the same issues that the people in Baltimore have. White people are shot there, the education system sucks and they're almost all bound by poverty in their circumstance.

Near my home in Florida there's an area north of Fort Myers called Suncoast estates. 25 mi.² of trailers rednecks in ball caps and pit bulls. They suffer from the same things as both communities mentioned earlier.

But the poor white people have no race card to play. They are resigned to their predicament, I see no hope for them. And I think it is one of the greatest tragedies in the country.

You don't see riots in either of the communities I mentioned or even in the Appalachian Mountains For that matter. And their voices go unheard.

The issue in this country is poverty not race, and it needs to be addressed fully not by color of skin.

Yup !

I feel police brutality is focused among the poor and there is not a race barrier.
