once upon a time David Petraus was mentioned as a potential candidate for the Republican nomination for President.

a conviction for having an affair with a married transexual and passing classified information pretty much shoots that idea in the head.

in some ways he got off easy...if he had no future.

in others...he's resolved himself to be remembered as about the biggest screw-up in modern American military-political history.

i thought McChrystal stepped in it knee deep when he suggested his Commander-in-Chief could 'suck it' in a rolling Stone Magazine, but Petraeus got it worst.

and as it becomes clearer, the immensity of the American Victory in this War for Ages, all of those has been, former war hero types...will realize that History will be less than kind...it won't even remember them; it be as if they never even existed.

Petraus had an affair with a transsexual?????

Where the hell did that come from?

First time I heard that one. Care to share the proof of that accusation? I looked it up and come up with NOTHING!

To be honest? I could care less about his sexual adventures! I care more about his sharing of state secrets!

Petraeus got off easy IMO. He oversaw drone strikes on civilians and first responders in Afghanistan... Bombed funerals..etc. Hes a war criminal. 2 years probation is easy.

I think he means he doesn't find Paula Broadwell to be an attractive woman.

Though you could probably watch a movie on her forehead.

are you saying Paul Broadwell isn't a post-op transsexual person?

i saw her picture and just assumed...perhaps I am mistaken.

so he fell softly, huh?

he is probably the most well known victim of government spying. and his soft landing seems to indicate that he was targeted for removal from his brass.

I'm glad he got off lightly, although what he did was stupid. He got something done in the ME before President Pinhead withdrew everybody and made all the American blood spilled a sacrifice made in vain.

All people who commit crimes have futures. No f'ing excuse.

are you suggesting that he had the affair and gave out classified information in Wartime in an effort to counter his Commander's incompetence?

are you sure HE got something done or was he adept at making it appear that he accomplished something when it was actually the work of someone else?

it seems to me, from my point of view, that the greatest skill of guys like Petreaus is that they have a highly developed ability to receive credit for the effort of others.

are you guys sure that Broadwell didn't have a penis? i'm just not buying it and her husband looks exactly like the type of person that would be comfortable in such a relationship.

and how did porn Star Jill Kelly fit into this whole thing...what does she have to say?

but Petreaus' potential future was a rare one. maybe he can hook up with Broadwell and her husband and they can make something happen.

you have to feel sorry for all the men that committed themselves to his leadership. he probably screwed up their plans as well as his own.

Didn't Bradley and Snowden release classified information? I don't think probation was ever an option for those citizens.

So this was prosecuted civilly and not under the UCMJ? I guess that's how he got out of any serious trouble. What I have found online has shown just about every instance of mishandling of classified information has led to jail time under the UCMJ.

This sentence is a joke. I guess his reputation and previous career got him off with less than a slap on the wrist.

Who cares who he f#d. That is immaterial. He was only convicted of a misdemeanor so actually the punishment was harsh. I'm glad he was convicted though because he's another one who was 'above the law'.

Let's enumerate who cares:

1. Holly, his wife
2. Stephen, his son
3. the FBI
4. the CIA
5. POTUS
6. David Petreaus...he resigned without pressure to so and in every way it took everyone by surprise.

he wasn't convicted of anything...he plead guilty' apparently without a single court appearance except today.

its actually quite refreshing when a man can admit without drama that he was wrong in just about every possible way a person in his position could be wrong and happily accept a decent deal with the authorities.

i bet you're the type that'll go down in a blaze of glory.

that too can be arranged.

here's a sample of someone that just refused to accept his serious error:

that must have been the worst 4 minutes of gaddafi's life.

This. He got what amounts to a slap on the wrist after some very serious charges. Charges that only came about as part of a government spying operation against him. Particularly troubling since he would have tried to reform that system.

Really all this does is show the governments actions weren't based on criminal justice but rather politically motivated and that should scare everyone.
