Same issues here. Unable to load the page for a while then getting error when trying access New or Recent.
Just got a message that Time Warner Cable is out in large areas of the country so I'm wondering ....here's my source.

Yeah I hope that is the case ! and it's not a DDOS Attack , Let us cross our fingers . I just don't know why we would have an error on the "recent post " page

The fact that we are here typing this tells me the problem lies elsewhere and not DDoS

I know ATS has a DDOS safety measure , I am not very PC savvy , But could it have been some strange Attack ?

I don't have TWC or Comcast nor anything related to either one, and its doing the same thing for me when I go to new or recent.

Not a clue. Some limited area's seem to be working just fine, so as I understand a DDOS, it's probably something else going on.

Not that tech savvy, kept getting a 504 Bad Gateway message, if that helps. Otherwise, nary a clue.

I don't have Comcast either but my understanding is that they are having issues with internet outages in places all across the nation. Locals who have Comcast are reporting that they are unable to access the net or their cable. My uneducated thought was that perhaps ATS has servers on the Comcast system. Have no idea really. ATS was the only site I attempted that didn't load.

That's the first thing I thought as well. I also got the error page when I logged out and tried to log back in, but then I just put the home URL in my browser and it let me back in.

This doesn't sound good at all.

I'm having trouble connecting with a lot of sites this afternoon.

I think ATS ought to have a 404 page made from the end of the Star Trek TOS episode "The Changeling".

NOMAD: Error. Error. Error. Examine.
KIRK: You are flawed and imperfect! Execute your prime function!
NOMAD: I shall analyse error. Analyse error,
KIRK: Now. Get those antigravs on it.
NOMAD: Examine error. Error.
(The anti-gravs are not stopped by any forcefields.)
KIRK: We've got to get rid of it while it's trying to think.
SPOCK: Your logic was impeccable, Captain. We are in grave danger.
KIRK: Scotty, the transporter room.
NOMAD: Analyse error.
(Kirk and Spock carry Nomad out, followed by Scott.)

NOMAD: Error.
KIRK: Scotty, set the controls for deep space. Two ten, mark one.
SCOTT: Aye, sir.
NOMAD: Faulty!
Ready, sir?
NOMAD: Faulty!
KIRK: Nomad, you are imperfect!
NOMAD: Error. Error.
KIRK: Exercise your prime function.
NOMAD: Faulty! Faulty! Must sterilise. Sterilise!
KIRK: Now!
SCOTT: Energising.
(They observe the satisfying explosion on a monitor.)

Same here, no access to 'new' or 'recent' whatever that's about, however some service checkers had the whole site down a while ago.

I don't get the reams of dialogue from a Board moderator input tonight either in this forum?

It has to be on ATS' side, but I'd imagine if their ISP is having a problem then it would show website wide, and not just on one or two pages.

New/Recent/etc pages should now be working for members.

I disabled the page as part of testing the issue.

It turns out an IP based in Yonkers, NY was hitting a few pages at a pace of hundreds of times per second. It's a private IP with a cable ISP, and their activity has been reported.

This started at about 7:40 PM EDT, and it was some kind of automated script since it kept trying to hit those pages even while we were offline.

There are a few other minor non-member services disabled at this time, as part of troubleshooting, but all should be well for logged-in members.

More as I know it.

It happened (for me) about the same time I was trying to check weather.gov

I just checked again and it still is down for me...

Must be internet problems all over...
