The idea of God, and religion are 2 different things.

A belief in God doesnt require religion,

Except that the God who created the religion most certainly required the practice of the religion.

Quite specifically.

Hate?

An ancient civilization is being annihilated, more Christians have been murdered and brutalized in the modern age than any other, a strange silence, where is the universal outcry?

Remember those that are in chains

What would you do if in you neighborhood ?

And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

I think you might find it is actually muslims brutalizing each other that outweighs the "victimhood" of christians right now.
The brutalization of any group of people is wrong, where is the universal outcry for that, christians arent special, why should they get special consideration?

God didnt create religion, backwards uncultured farmers did that a very long time ago.
Unless you can show me the hand of god writing anything, I will attribute it to people.

20th. Century warfare by the Christian West took the genocide to a totally different level. A conservative estimate puts the total number of brutal deaths in the 20 th century at more than 250 million. Of these, Muslims are responsible for less than 10 million deaths. Christians, or those coming from Christian backgrounds account for more than 200 million of these! The greatest death totals come from World War I (about 20 million, at least 90 % of which were inflicted by "Christians") and World War II ( 90 million, at least 50% of which were inflicted by "Christians," the majority of the rest occurring in the Far East). Given this grim history, it appears that we Europeans must all come to grips with the fact that Islamic civilization has actually been incomparably less brutal than Christian civilization. Did the Holocaust of over 6 million Jews occur out of the background of a Muslim Civilization

interesting.

There is no one as vicious and determined than one that thinks they are right in their cause.

How did it all begin, this persecution?

It begins with words and spewing hatred.

The very words said on this forum.

Do not sit idly by while the blood of your neighbor is being shed.
webtv.un.org...
Where does the hatred begin?

Carefully watch your words, someone may be being influenced, someone reading that never post, time to stop hurting one another.

75% of the world population lives in nations that restrict their faith.

Psalm 82:3 Give ear to the cause of the poor and the children without fathers; let those who are troubled and in need have their rights.

“How long will you defend the unjust
and show partiality to the wicked? Defend the weak and the fatherless;
uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.
Rescue the weak and the needy;
deliver them from the hand of the wicked.

Rise up, O God, judge the earth,
for all the nations are your inheritance.

The one thing that binds all acts of human violence, religions and ideologies is people.

People have egos, pack mentalities, so that is the real cause of the worlds persecution.
Religion is just another excuse for us to be bad to each other, along with all the others.

Just a quick question...
If God created the universe and all the nations, then how can he inherit what is already his?

Besides, I was led to believe its the meek that shall inherit the earth, so which is it?

Total opposite for me, and for many I know.

Fair enough. People change belief systems all the time. It's no surprise that it worked the opposite for you and others.

The more research I did - the more I educated myself about the history and origin of my faith, the more I examined what I learned against my own personal experience and understanding, the clearer God became in the Universe, in our Earth, in our Church and in my life.

Same here. It's just that I didn't limit myself to what confirmed my bias. The truth became more important to me than what I believed. Not saying you did either, but it is a common issue when one doesn't want their beliefs, or their bible challenged. They mentally reject anything that challenges those beliefs, instead of researching further. None of us are immune to such, of course.

I'd put the time I've invested in learning more about my faith toe to toe with anybody on this site.

I'm sure you would. And there was a time I would have gone up against any atheist that wanted to take me on. In fact, I did. More than once. As well as Moonies, Catholics, and anyone else. But at this point in my life, I like what Buddha had to say...

From my perspective, a person who describes himself as an atheist is the definition of blind.

How surprising.

And yet you spend an inordinate amount of time arguing back and forth in front of your computer about how terrible religion is.

Sadly ironic.

Where do I argue?

I primarily state my own opinion.

Christians in predominately Muslim theocracies?

They also persecute Muslims for not being Muslim enough.

Actually, God didn't make a bet. What happened was Satan made an accusation that humans only serve God when bad things don't happen to them. Satan made this accusation in the 'heavenly' court in that account. So the question is, would Job give in if Satan was allowed to affect his life? God did not prevent it otherwise what would that prove. Satan is the ruler of the world for the time being, to prove his point towards all mankind. Job was repayed back his losses and more.
It's not your place to mock something you do not have a full comprehension of.
God allows suffering to happen because Satan causes it and says humans won't be faithful. And a lot of suffering is really from our own bad choices we make and others around us. The bible never condones the thought that God takes people's live in our modern times. The only time he did interven was to protect the messianic lineage. Nowadays he's waiting to give time before he brings Armageddon to the earth to remove only those who are truly wicked. The rest will enjoy a renewed paradise earth like Christ spoke of. -Psalms 37:10,11;Matthew 5:5

Funnily I have found the opposite to be true. I find people more religious when bad things happen to them.
It provides "hope" for a better future. Or an afterlife of bliss after a life of misery.

What does the bible say about persecution?

Rise up, O God, judge the earth, for all the nations are your inheritance.

1Peter 4:17

For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

Regardless of ones faith or lack of faith it is their responsibility as a member of the human race, to protect the innocent,we are obligated to prevent genocide.

Not to spread discord, inadvertently.

Aroer, although stricken from modern-day maps, lies 11 miles from the banks of the Arnon River. We now know this region as Jordan, the biblical land of Moab and Edom, which was separated by northern kingdoms by the ancient river. Isaiah explains that this city will not be destroyed like Damascus, but suffers the same desolate fate as her. Most likely by voluntary exodus, the people of this Jordanian region will leave their city, not one staying behind, in such a state of emptiness that the abandoned livestock will roam unhindered. This ruin has already begun in Damascus, as ISIS has now overtaken at least 90 percent of Yarmouk — a former Palestinian camp established to house over 100,000 registered refugees — beheading, hacking, and destroying everything in sight.

That goes without saying.

But the moment people think they know better than others the inadvertent discord begins.

have you ever read albert pike's references to world war 3? not only do muslims, jews and christians get wiped, but so do atheists, when the people who are responsible for most of this #, blame their final patsy -- the atheists. it's sorta like that phrase:

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.
