Are the American people ready for yet another 10 year shock and awe campaign?

Perhaps a draft will wake you all up.

Let's see how patriotic you really are.

We are a nation of video-game players who can wreak destruction by drone without fear of harm. You don't have to be patriotic to fight the next war, just bored.

Not really. they would work from home via internet or satellite. no need to burn out gas to commute to the air force base.

I believe it was the GOP that threw the monkey wrench into the mix with the Iran deal, and Russia is protecting its interests. You can also bet that China also is moving assets into the region as well, as both get their oil from Iran.

In short, what is going on is simple political posturing.

Iran has been off the US radar for a while. But things changed let's be honest the US was worried in the 90s the Arab nations would cut off gas supplies. That threat has been removed the US has more oil than the middle east. So now the Arab league and Israel are begging and pleading to deaf ears. They will go after Iran it's already starting highly unlikely the US will get involved. Unless A New President Wants to take the risk but it be a hard sell to US public.

So what's going on is simple it's what's been going on for centuries Persians and Arabs fighting again. Both have diffrent versions of Islam and both want to exterminate thw other. In the past Saudis would scream for help and off went US troops.Saudis even offered to pay for the gulf war. In retrospect should have let them. Now that they figured out they can't call US troops now the Arab League Is starting a Joint Army . Could be really funny if they allow Israel to help kind of ironic. So at this point Iran is in the cross hairs of the middle east. There only hope is if the US brokers some peace accord again ironic

Actually they offered to pay US troops and Bush said we weren't mercenaries.
32K if I heard correctly.
I sure could have used it.

One would think, however Iran has 2 major players that can and will back it up. The first is Russia, another would be China. Both hold major interests in Iran and usually have opposed many sanctions against it. Russia has been in bed with the Iranians for years, as a means to keep some interest in the region. Combine with its other allies, like Pakistan. In the last armed conflict that Iran was involved in, the Iraq Iran war, Pakistan gave military support to Iran.

It is a semi cold war, with all sides playing a very high stakes game. Iran can not take out Israel without the rest of the Islamic world behind it. Nor can Israel go in and take out Iran, as it would leave it vulnerable to attack. And Iran can not move or do much in the region, without some support from the Saudi government.

The Saudis want Iran gone in fact so much so they are creating an army to do it. China wouldn't help Iran odd that you believe that actually. Russia is a diffrent matter they see this as a business o per tuning to help there failing economy. Russia is having a hard time competing on the arms market. For example instead of China buying jet engines for there planes from Russia where did they go Ukraine.

The Arab league sees now as the perfect time to remove an evil from the middle east. They know Russia cant do anything to say Sadie Arabia or Jordan and Egypt. They don't have the power to stop them. The only one that does being the US is showing a real lack of intrest they know Obama wouldn't stop. The US has always tried to maintain fighting on the middle east to a country. Feared escalation but know the US is really just tired of it. Notice no trying to solve palistinian problems no support for Israel any more. And even when something occurs like Syria they do the minimum to solve it. Europe wad up in arms about civilians being gassed and bombed. What wad done really nothing they told him if they see aircraft attacking they would intercept. It was the gulf states that actually took on an active role is destroying Syria s airforce.US just provided tanker support and recon. And has been against setting up a no fly zone like Turkey wants.

Let them fight it out, don't get involved (bit late now) but let them destroy themselves.

Frankly the world will be a cleaner place after (except that region).

The Saudi’s are not going to move against Iran. They cannot afford to do such. Nor can Iran move against the Saudi, for they both know it would be a losing proposition in the long run. This area is seeping with history and here is the main problem.

If either moves to take out say the other side, the rest would view such as a play to try to rebuild what was destroyed long ago. The last time anyone group held all of that would have been the Ottoman’s that lost it all after World War I, when many of the groups and countries broke away and as part of the peace agreement. None of the people in that region want to go back to that system. And therein lays the problem.
If Iran makes a move to try to fight Saudi Arabia, then it risks bring other Islamic states against it, and runs the risk of having them support the Saudi government. If Saudi goes against Iran, it ends up with the same problem. And in that part of the world, people tend to remember old hurts and seek to settle the scores. And they have a lot of old hurts and scores to settle in that region.

So they are going to do what they always have done, and that is fight via proxy, getting others to do the fighting for them and sit back. And it will continue for years, though the other problem will be is that if anyone else gets involved, they become the bad guy and ultimately will gain the hatred of the region.
Iran can ill afford to go against or take on Saudi, as then all Saudi has to do, is simply use their power at OPEC and vote to get a new oil price set, and that will have a far greater impact on both countries.

But consider this, could you see attacking a place that holds something that is so revered by so many? Would any country want to risk damaging such and take a chance of raising the ire of all those that revere such?
