This threads is about stupid. Stupid comes in all shapes and forms, it knows no barriers, it has no religious ideology, is not defined to any ethnic group, education has no impact on it, it has no political affiliation and everyone sees examples of it daily.

It may show itself at school, work, in the newspaper, online, on TV ,or on the radio. Politicians do it, academia does it, blogs do it, people do it, stupid is a curse all humanity has to deal with.

I think we should fight stupid every time it rears its ignorant head. That's why this thread is dedicated to it. I ask everyone when you see a example of something really stupid post it on this thread. I don't care what kind of stupid you pick out it could be funny, it could be sad, it could be irritating or the person that autres anything stupid just could be completely lost.

Here is an example of something really stupid from 2014. This quote came from the mayor of Toronto.

“Yes, I have smoke crack coc aine, “ Ford told reporters Nov. 5, “There have been times when I’ve been in a drunken stupor. That’s why I want to see the tape.”

Seriously????????
That statement reminded me of an old Rodney Dangerfield line,

Q; Did you ever smoke marijuana?
A; yes I did but I had no idea what I was doing because I was all effed up on coc aine.

Joe Biden's always good for some I can only assume stupid endears itself to certain people.

"Folks, I can tell you I've known eight presidents, three of them intimately." --Joe Biden, Aug. 22, 2012

Like I said from Biden there's always more.

"My mother believed and my father believed that if I wanted to be president of the United States, I could be, I could be Vice President!" --Joe Biden, campaigning in Youngstown, Ohio, May 16, 2012

" God bless the America we are trying to create"' Hillary Clinton

" make it a 100 that would be fine with me" John McCain when I ask whether he supported President Bush's plan to keep troops in Iraq for the for seeable future.

" immigrants are more fertile and they love their families" Jeb Bush

" poverty is just a state of mind " Gandhi

" get your feet off my desk, get out of here, your feet stink and we're not going to buy your product" John Keenan's comment to Steve Jobs when jobs offered to sell the rights to his personal computer.

" The thing about smart people is they sound like crazy people to dumb people" Stephen Hawkins

And the list goes on.

BTW Before anybody says it I already know this is a stupid thread.

Wasn't it George W. Bush who said "More and more of our imports come from overseas" ?

I like that, I think it fits the thread.

For what it's worth....

There are all kinds of stupid people that annoy me but what annoys me most is a lazy argument.

Oh oh now it's my turn to say something stupid.

I hope Rand Paul does something like Teddy Roosevelt and a Bullmoose party.

I was attracted to this thread by two words. War, and Stupid. I've become ever more impressed with the quality of some of the writing and ideas put forth on ATS. As a result, I myself have volunteered to fight the fight to limit stupid on ATS. How am I doing that?

1) Recognizing that there are different types of stupid, I've detected that I am at times, emotionally stupid. I see a thread that offends me and I want to jump in and sound off and say stupid things. So:
2) I've declared war on my own stupid to force myself to either dodge those threads altogether or to refrain from commenting thereupon for at least an entire day.

Hopefully this will limit my own stupid and make ATS a better place.

But when you ignore stupid it never goes away and on the Internet it has a way of going viral .

Actually, the Ghandi quote isn't that stupid. However, I would add a clause saying it;'s primarily the state of mind of the 1%.

This is not a quote, but it certainly is something stupid fresh off the press.

Hillary Clinton Scooby doo van

brought to you by Hillary's election team.,,,,,

" Elect Hillary she's one of us"

As a proofreader, if I were slightly less ethical ... I could so expose so many of our clients.

I think the one that sticks out best in my mind was the one about how they described a client who went on many cruises in her lifetime. -- She apparently pleasured herself on them. Yes, that was the wording they used. We chose to edit that.

Well I've often said Idiocy is the most undertreated mental illness around...

Something even education cannot help.

Furthermore...
My only qualm with ATS is the header "Deny Ignorance"...

But chances are if you call someone ignorant your post may be removed...

Maybe I'm ignorant as to why

There is a fine line between real ignorance and simple difference of opinion.

That's true...

But I was referring to people who see the line... And then triple jump past it for the gold medal in ignorance.

One of the stupids things I have ever heard.

"We have to pass it, to know what is in it."

I'm really started to believe this is the standard by which everything is passed in our government. Nobody reads anything anymore.
