This is a developing issue. Both ATT and Cingular cell phone systems are currently down nationwide in the US. This could be a terrorist attack in process. Anything out there on the wires?

"Millions of cell phone customers in Texas and 12 other states were without cell phone service Monday. The outage involves Cingular Wireless and AT&T. "

I use Cingular and my phone is working as good as
it ever has (which is not very good) so I don't think the
nationwide thing is correct!!

No disrespect meant, but aren't we being just a little paranoid here when the "terrorists" are possibly messing up our mobile communications network? Imagine the effort they'd have to go to in order to knock out an entire nation's mobile phone system, and for what end? It would be a lot easier for them to do a lot more damage in much simpler ways.

Next we'll be blaming our backed up toilet on the "terrorists"?

The outage was caused by damaged servers.

I don't have Cingular or AT&T, but you know that they are merging and that changes in the system will affect service.

ohio here, no problems at all. indeed i think we are too jumpy of a society when merging is confused with terrorism.
