Threat or blessing?
Dark clouds drift
promising rain or storm,
like the puffy lips
of a lover.

The air heavy,
a pregnant belly,
swollen with life,
concubine of nature,
sleepy night.

Soft cotton,
a silky veil,
a stirring of sheets,
color only hinted at,
blowing in the wind.

Drops of midnight ponds
freshen the stale air.
Cold broken glass
falls to earth
melting from the embrace.

Creatures cower
from the anger,
cover their ears
and wonder,
will there be a bow?

Darkness is sleepy,
turns its head,
rolls over
and slumbers once again.

Thank you for taking the time to read and comment! I have been waking up early (2:30am) with a line or an idea running through my mind. I have learned not to blow it off because I am unable to go back to sleep until I have written it. I write them start to finish in one sitting. I suppose I could polish them up if I spent a few days but then I feel like they would lose their rawness. I want to communicate to my listeners or readers as close to the moment as possible. I don't know exactly why but it feels more authentic to me. You are an encouragement to me to keep writing. So I will.

Thanks again.

Very Good GrayEagle! I too write from the cuff. I get an idea, and let it grow on paper as I write it. I enjoy your writings tremendously!!

Later, Syx.

Thanks for the encouragement! I enjoy a number of creative outlets and I endeavor to let them unfold organically. I know a number of people utilize prompts and exercises to stimulate their creativeness. If I get stuck I move on to another outlet and return whenever the energy returns. It may not work for everyone because we are all different but it works for me.

peace
