I have always gotten my dogs rabies, distemper and parvo vaccs. Never saw any ill effects.

If they pick up a critter while running and get rabies, they go insane and die painfully with no treatment available.

Not a good situation.

My pup, a rott is aslo more susceptible to parvo and kennel cough, so I don't skimp on the vaccines.

Nope, my dogs get vaccinated. They both are boarded at my vet's if we go out of town, they both go to training classes occasionally, my pit bull will go after possums, and my lab goes to the dog park and indoor swimming at a dog training facility weekly.

Then again I also have get my tetanus shot as recommended (I work with metal and spend time in barns), have gotten a whooping cough shot and got a flu shot last year.

I've been doing a lot of research on this subject recently and I am also going to ONLY vax for rabies from now on.
