If the pen is the mightier than the sword then why do actions speak louder than words?

Saw this quote on one of those raptor meme images.

Think on that, tell me what you think!

The pen is for diplomacy and action is for the idiots who don't want to be diplomatic.

How'd I do?

Jude11

A big nasty sword is diplomatic, changes the tone in diplomacy.

Just because something is louder does not mean it is mightier .

LOL This is a good one and that is my first flippant answer.

Wan't to work on this one , it's something to do with words are magic ?

I don't think we can have one without the other...

The word (thought) is the original form taking place, but then the action must follow in order to bring the word to life.

Good point ... Thought is also put in action by way of mouth ... Or by action such as the thought to pick up a pen or a sword
Thought is what governs all our actions ...

It really depends on the situation doesn't it.

In an already violent situation i want a sword to defend myself not a pen.

However pre violence words(pen) may be able to stop the violence starting.

However is this also not the opposite of 'sticks and stones will break my bones but names will never hurt me'

What is the term for the original OP. Aren't those statements called a contrary?

I believe the word you are looking for is "paradox".

The secret of history: What actions are taken are not nearly as important as what was written about those actions. Those written words are what will travel through time. The words are what people will pay attention to throughout the ages, as the actions themselves have dissapeared in the instant they were performed.

And since the victor records history we'll never know the stories of history's truly defeated, conquered, the ones who lost, etc.

Because the people who use the pen want you to think that. That is so they don't get their heads chopped off.
