And I succumbed to curiosity in the guise of entertainment. What a wretch I am...

Not unless your intent was to be entertained. Curiosity, even morbid curiosity is quite common and natural and isn't necessarily associated with entertainment.

My intent was to judge if it was the real deal. It wasn't and I was ashamed that I looked.

I don't think the intent was that the video get's dragged into the public for everyone to see and debate wether it's real or not. And I really hope this video won't get leaked, no need for more sensationalism...

As for the "respectable" journalists from the BILD. Let's just say, there is a growing public movement in Germany which despises the reporting and journalists style of the BILD (and the whole other Axel Springer papers and magazines) reagarding that plane crash. You can't buy it in some places anymore because business owners refuse to sell the paper and others make buyers of the paper aware of the faulty (and propagandistic) reporting.
So whats special about this "boycott"?
You could buy and read the BILD nearly everywhere and by this coverage the paper could instill a public opinion, but the people are becoming aware that they are merely used and influenced instead of just informed about daily news.

Well, the deceased owner of the phone did take the video for a reason.

And that is a very valid point.

The old saying, dead people can tell stories I think is very adept here.

That is true but the screams of those around didn't consent to their final moments of sheer and utter terror to be uploaded and viewed on YouTube.

I understand curiosity, I really do but there is a line of respect that shouldn't be crossed. Stepping over that line is disrespectful to those that died.

How would you feel knowing a loved one was on that plane? How would you feel about those clicking and viewing that Footage, just because a person manages to film something, it shouldnt give people a moral right to view it.

You only have to look at the barbaric acts committed in Syria and such places, where ISIS publicly behead, stone to death, throw people off buildings etc, you have the crowd of people watching, our view on them is of utter disgust. Or are we to view them as just curious and are decent people?

It is basic human nature to want to watch this video. Basic human nature. When we were all in school and a fight broke out...we did'nt run away, we ran to it. We watched it, we talked about it later on with others who did'nt see it. It's called mob mentality. In this case it's a digital mob called the world. There's no disrespect for watching the vid nor discussing what was watched. I would say to op...did you turn away from those fights in school or did you like most of the rest of us run to it to see for yourself ? I want watch it becuase the sheer amount of info coming thru paints a mental picture for me I already have trouble dealing with.....knowing for over 8 or possibly 13 minutes what was happening. Seeing it, then becoming aware of what was happening...to much for my emotions to take. Sheer horror in the minds of those passengers.

To be fair its not a great comparison, a fight in a school yard to a video of people screaming knowing they are about to die, a very recent event where the families and friends of those on board are obviously still in raw grief.

What's the purpose of allowing that video to be viewed beyond a morbid fascination?
Where is the respect for those who were screaming? Where is the respect for those grieving who may recognise a voice of a loved one?

Would you like video footage to be played on youtube of you screaming for your life,, knowing your family know its been posted on a public video sharing app?

Do you consider looking at kiddie porn, just because its out there somewehere on the web as acceptable to view just out of curiosity? I hope not and understand you will see a moral line being crossed.

I wonder if the transparency we have seen would have happened if these leaks did not occur, or would it be more like MH370 with more questions than answers. Yes this is horrible and so tragic for the families, but without this, it would never be known how much they suffered in their final moments as it was explained at first that 'they didn't suffer and it was over in seconds'. Oh really??

First the CVR black box was found, but the data was unusable, then it was, but only after it was leaked...

Im sure they were trying to give some comfort to those who lost sons, daughters etc on that flight.

Knowing they knew they were going to die must add so much more pain. If it were a loved one of mine id rather be lied to and be told they didn't know anything.

I said it was human nature for people to want to watch it. Never said I was going to .In fact said I said I was'nt and gave a reason. Your kiddie porn comment was un called for. My analogy is the same. Ambivalence: simultaneous and contradictory attitudes or feelings ( as attraction and repulsion) toward an object, person, or action....a reply to: ProleUK

Hey sorry my friend, the comment about kiddie porn wasnt meant to be directed at you personally, it was more of a point, badly made.

Human nature does make us curious , yes, it doesn't make it right to decide to watch or allow that video to be shown. Like I say, it serves no purpose.

I think you have it backwards, it's disrespectful to the living relatives of the dead. The dead people don't care, they're dead.

If it helps get to the bottom of what caused this or what happened, and preventing it being covered up, I welcome this.

Yes, the screams and events unfolding are terrible and gut wrenching, it won't bring them back BUT it may help us get answers to questions. Maybe.

We don't watch or want to watch it out of anything other than to get answers.

Every terrible event video is terrible. It destroys a little bit of your soul each time when you watch it.

It is better to be informed than ignorant.

Putting our fingers in our ears and going lalalalala is not going to make the world better now is it.

Nobody trusts the official authorities in these matters, just look at the flight Malaysia and Ukraine flights. Yes they took it for a reason, good thinking on their part.

A record of the event is better than no record and not knowing.

I think the people (monsters) creating 'fake videos' of the crash are PROBABLY sick themselves. When a person does this, it means they have NO empathy, nor emotions.. They themselves need to be investigated, because they are probably mentally ill. Who does that, you know? Sick....

We don't need to see it released. The poor families have gone through enough, don't you think?

Just makes me MAD...

-P-

Whats REALLY sick is that these fake youtube vids with MILLIONS of views are making money off it. Off of the DEATHS of people.. Where are their morals? So evil...

No disrespect taken. I am sorry people are the way they are......but people gonna do what people want to do. If there's folks out there who want to watch that video..they gonna watch it. I agree it serves zero purpose. One simply has to use a little empathy to understand what those poor people knew was coming. No video is needed to know and realise the terror these people went thru. a reply to: ProleUK
