Daniel 9:27 English Standard Version

1/ And Heshall make a strong covenant with many for one week,

2/ and for half of the week he shall put an end to sacrifice and offering.

3/ And on the wing of abominations shall come one who makes desolate, until the decreed end is poured out on the desolator.”

Do you think 1/2/ and 3/ are the same person? I don't find anything in common between person 3/ the desolator, and the rest. Perhaps 1/ and 2 are the same but more research should be done.

Too much is presumed for GRANTED in today's Bible prophecy, and it is not. Similar situation exists with the book of Revelation. Scholars repeat and repeat paradigms that might be new and exciting a century ago compared to the older ones, but today are outdated. You can't really enter the space age without mentioning a word about it, if the Bible is a book of space contacts with the Earth. God is someone who does not dwell in earth but somewhere else, as well as the angels.

New ideas, new paradigms, new theology is needed ASAP if we want to glimpse the truth. We don't need dogmas of 19 century protestant scholars, no matter how bright they were. They did they job. Now we need new ways to decode the ancient texts based on the realities today. If we don't meet Jesus, then the generations later will have their right to re-compose new paradigms as who is who in end times, with the realities political and others at their time.

Well if you want a better way, you might want to lobby the chronicalsproject.organization to start on the balance of the Bible and the dead sea schools. Look them up, they do very interesting translations.

Cheers - Dave

Along with that thought, it has bugged me for a while that many scoff at the idea of "aliens" having visited and yet by definition, "God" and "angels" are aliens. Even by the Biblical understanding alone, they are a race of beings or creatures not originally of this earth who came here from somewhere else. That pretty much is the definition of "alien contact". And yet, many refuse to put away ancient thinking about "god," elohim, or malakim and realize that the Bible itself says a race of "mighty ones" and "rulers" came from somewhere else and seeded life here. I agree, we need to open up our vocabulary and start thinking is it possible "alien" visitation and the "ancient" accounts of "god" or (the gods) are one and the same.

The first two are surely the same person.
The third one depends on properly understanding "making desolate".
This is actually about the effect on God's people of the "abomination", a word which is about some act of idolatry.
It helps, also, to remember that the original model for all this was Antiochus Epiphanes, a king who did all these things.
He "stopped the sacrifices" and he replaced them with an "abomination" (an image of Jupiter) which caused "desolation" (the replacement gave the people a sense of isolation from their God).
So it's natural to assume that Daniel is describing a ruler who would do all these things, in the same way.

"The One Who Makes Desolate" sounds like the "Angel Of Death" that "God" uses in Egypt during the Passover, and who is also the one who rides a "Pale Horse" in Revelation. I think they're one in the same.

Newtons take on it will probably be in there somewhere.

On this page he talks of basically the "primer" to all biblical revelation, the code that leads to understanding. According to him there is no prophy abou single persons.

For understanding the Prophecies, we are, in the first place, to acquaint our-selves with the figurative language of the Prophets. This language is taken from the analogy between the world natural, and an empire or kingdom considered as a world politic.

since they are not one same person, the whole theory of end times 70th week lacks foundation. I search for answers, I don't have them. But what is given to us as answer is fairy tale based on assumptions on one verse concerning 2 or 3 different leaders, spanning thousands of years. And some people are ready to bet their lives on those theories and set dates etc. Good luck to them!

Daniye'l - Daniel - 9:27 Eth Cepher
1/ And the greatness of the covenant multiplies for one Shavua: 2/ and in the middle of the Shavua, the sacrifice and the oblation cease, 3/ and the overspreading of abominations makes it desolate, even until the consummation is determined and poured over the desolation.

Do not know if this will help but is supposed to be the actual English from Hebrew manuscripts in todays understanding.
