I don't consider myself Dem or republican. I guess if anything I'm a constitutionalist.I don't care about sides,I haven't in years now. They are both crooked as can be. What I do care about is what works and what doesn't.And though ACA may work for some,it does not do its intended job,to work for all. That is what people thought they would be getting, they figured that those in power would simply go to another country that had socialist medicine and use that as a blue print for our own. I don't know if they did or not,but as usual something went horrible wrong Dr.Frankenstein. Now we are stuck with the mess, with some people STILL not able to afford this, and others selling their kids teeth to buy it. The whole thing is a mess.

Well, I just wish my parents didn't have to learn the hard way. They are both Dems by the way. My mom is on disability, and he is retired.
They just had their taxes done. They have a very limited income, so they qualified for ACA. They were happy. Not so much now.

They have to pay. The ACA apparently gave them too much of a subsidy, and now they get to pay it back.
Which they don't have the money to do.

Screw the ACA and Obama.

No matter how successful ObamaCare is , the right will never cop to it.

Here's the problem--it hasn't been a success, at least not in the way that it was designed to help Americans. Sure, some lower-income people may have insurance when they couldn't afford it before, but that's because rates have gone up to compensate for the coverage. And there are still just as many, if not more, uninsured Americans years after the ACA was implemented. Many people could not keep their doctors, let alone their insurance plans (both were promised that they could be kept)--my dad being one of them.

For what the ACA did positively, there could have just been an expansion to Medicaid that would have accomplished the goals, but not, instead of the freedom to choose if I want healthcare, I'm forced to get it or pay a fine...oh, sorry, a "tax."

The whole way it went about getting passed at midnight during Christmas, and then no legislator having even read the thing (which was a nearly insurmountable task [by design, I'd say]) before voting on it, and then Pelosi saying we have to pass it to know what's in it--it all stinks to high heaven, and anyone who applauds this legislation and thinks it's nothing but a success is either delusional, ignorant to the whole truth, or lying to themselves (or all three).

Added:

Also, there are plenty of people "on the left," as well as libertarian-minded (and others) who think this legislation is bad. Don't let the fact that the congress is divided down party lines fool you into believing that America mirrors that sentiment.

Every doctor I know loathes Obama care. My uncle and his entire practice would go under if he even tried to accept Obama insurance, they had to change to cash only because the amount of bull crap paperwork and never being paid. Anyone against it is right no matter what they have to say in my book. Just to get a new system that favors the normal Americans.

I wouldn't call Obamacare successful. I tried to sign up for it just to have some type of insurance, then couldn't because they were too stupid to keep a website up. Then I had major surgery in January and decided I wouldn't want the insurance if it was the only choice on the planet. They have done zero % for the country and will continue to do so, unless you're in their circle.

My premiums through my work provided insurance went up by about $150 a month. And...service went down.

SO, you and a handful of other Progressives champion another handful of others getting subsidized insurance on the backs of the Tax Payer.

Amazing that you will rah-rah for theft when the Govt does this. But if someone where to steal from your wallet, you would be crying the loudest.

So....you can keep your health insurance......oh wait, forgot. How many people were dumped from a plan that had to go away?

Simple solution. No more insurance companies, single payer, payment same as medicare of $108 for every adult person.

I've been screaming from the rooftops since before Obamacare become law that this is where we are headed. In my eyes, Obamacare wasn't intended to ever work -- it was intended to ease Americans away from the private insurance setup they've had for ages.

Americans always pay higher prices for everything healthcare related, we subsidize the entire world's medical care! We pay five times as much for a Tylenol as someone in France does. The medical industry uses America, and charges Americans more so they can have "acceptable" prices in other countries!

At some point this is going to have to stop.

It is beyond me how people can still try to defend this nonsense.

Are there a FEW places where this works? Are there a FEW people out of the ENTIRE country that this helps? Sure

Over all is it a complete failure? Are most people paying more to private businesses offering FORCED insurance coverage?
Are MANY people cutting out things like FOOD, and other important items from their budget?

HELL YES.

You can say mass, pay thousands of people to lie online about how wonderful this crap is, but ultimately every action is a detriment to the integrity of those who blindly support this travesty.

If the argument wasnt "conservatives" want to fight Obamacare, then MAYBE everyone supporting it would not be seen as the equivalent of everything they say their opponents are....enemies of the American people by and large.

Everyone is suffering because of this.

Instead of being asshats defending this crap, make a united front TO MAKE A REAL HEALTHCARE SYSTEM. Dont support a bailout for insurance companies coupled with a power grab by the government. COPY A WORKING MODEL FROM ANY country that has a working healthcare system.

Let me say that again....

COPY A WORKING MODEL FROM ANY country that has a working healthcare system.

This is not HEALTHCARE. It is forced public subsidy for PRIVATE PROFIT.....and its expensive as hell. We dont get free healthcare...we pay MORE MONEY to PRIVATE COMPANIES.

How can you defend this at this point? The evidence is in black and white and in the tears of Americans being impoverished by this....HOW!?!?!

Is your choice in political ideology more important than the well being of your people? IS SHOWING FACE more important than the well being of your people? A bad choice was made, own it and make it better.

Some States are moving Medicaid into private HMOs.....

Illinois Medicaid shifts 1.4 million to managed care

Illinois has shifted about 1.4 million of its Medicaid recipients into managed care, falling just short of a Jan. 1 goal to move more than 1.5 million into the alternative system of delivering health care.

State officials said they are comfortable with the progress of the change, which they say will help stabilize spending and improve care for the state's low-income and disabled patients.

"We didn't dilly-dally. We moved this right along," said Julie Hamos, director of the Department of Healthcare and Family Services, which oversees Medicaid.

Sounds like big companies do a better job ????

Well that is the middle ground I guess.

I dont think most are against national healthcare. The opponents to Obamacare arent against that. This is not health care though. Its a bailout and a power grab.

People need to understand who the opponents to this are. Its not "conservatives" or any other applicable label to the people opposing this. Its the American people as a whole. This is blatant theft of the publics money by our government who gave it to the hands of private businesses that were going to fail but were unqualified for a government bailout.

I would LOVE to have health care. EVERYONE WOULD. The problem is that we will not settle for a lesser evil, not when it is unnecessary. The lesser evil was what we had. This is a greater evil.

Have a good one.
Hold it down.

The following is my opinion as a member participating in this discussion.

Aside from being well said, I concur with the reality which must ever be present in the mind of someone who rejects both "sides" of the so-called argument; namely, that the aim of appeasing the arch-capitalists is killing Americans.

If we weren't dealing with the ridiculous demands of those who are supposedly trickling wealth down upon us we might be able to distribute the medical services much less painfully.

The solution is very simply within our reach... but the credit machines and commerce culture won't have it.

It's plain to see who owns the process, it's plain to see who owns our information networks, it's no wonder we think it's a conservative/liberal or a democrat/republican thing... whatever the hell that's supposed to mean to a cancer patient with a disabled spouse.

They have debased the medical service until all that's left is a 'check-box' diagnostic table by a 'qualified' attendant - of course, we are then supposed to applaud this 'marvel of adequacy' - and then are forced to pick to whom we are to pay through the nose for it.

As an ATS Staff Member, I will not moderate in threads such as this where I have participated as a member.

Yeah exactly what we need. The Govt can't get any other program it has come up with to run within budget and without huge issues.

Let's just hand over more control for more false senses of security or free crap.

And........continue to champion theft via taxes and call it free.

Yes. Well done.

Just like Tasman, very well said!

This is a national travesty of epic proportions.

Sure it helped a very small percent.

But it is crushing the many just to do it.
