I always liked the WEAV concept. Interesting that this is being developed in florida. Northern Florida from gainsville through the panhandle (Passing Eglin AFB ) all the way over to mississippi/ louisiana border (where there happens to be a NASA facility) there has been a lot of UFO sightings that remind me of WEAV devices being tested out in various configurations.

Speaking of MHD Propulsion. Take a Triangle. Have a trio of HID lights on the bottom at the ends of the tips. Have the HIDs specially built to emit light in the ultraviolet to just near visible spectrum. Using the principles of linear absorption and scattering blast the air below the craft with these HID's and excite the nitrogen and oxygen molecules in the air around the craft. air that is over ionized past the absorption point might "bleach" in the visible spectrum as a bright pale blue light similar to xenon.

This quantum stimulation of the air molecules via photons will create a plasma medium for electric coils inside the craft to manipulate via induced magnetic fields. Simple MHD.

The electric coils maybe situated above the HID's inside the craft would create a transverse magnetic field that will be able to grab the air and move it around the craft. You can pulse the coils in a way so that the magnetic field travels like a wave from front to back and grab the air like a caterpillar track pushing it behind the craft.

Need to expand the bubble of ionized air and give yourself more medium to play with and more traction? Make the HID's able to rapidly pulse back and forth at two power intensities. One that is just short of the thompson scattering limit that bleaches the air and then a second one at a little more power that will ride through the bleached air and ionize the medium even further out increasing the bubble size.

Using the above idea you can even aim it like a laser and pump/pulse the light out to further bleaching distances thus creating a tunnel of ionized air like low drag corridor. This could possibly appear like a glow or field around the craft at slow speeds and maybe like a glowing tunnel of ionized air like a florescent tube if the thing is really going for it. The science is so advanced on photonic stimulation of air that they have ways of using lasers to convert the atmosphere it's self into a laser generating mechanism. It wouldn't be a stretch to simply stimulate the air using photons of a certain wavelength and intensity and create a plasma medium for magnetic fields to play with.

You could then steer the triangle by making the hull a graphene hull with imbedded circuitry that can be selectively activated at will. maybe use the Vanadium Dioxide as a switch to control where the hull electrifies/magnetizes and where it doesn't so that you can guide the magnetic flux lines the coils are producing.

Use a layer of metamaterial that can work with photons and use that as the stimulant to control the vanadium dioxide.

For the power source to all of this I would use a quantum dot LED and use it to fuel a reactor comprised of a dome or sphere layered on the inside with that Klimov Los Alamos Metamaterial solar cells that have amazing efficiency in converting light to energy and you have tons of electrical power.

Use some of the light created to travel via metamaterial wave guides utilizing the jaynes-cummings effect to the hull and the vanadium. Supplying the photons needed to activate/ trigger the vanadium. Use electrical circuits to control the metamaterial photon wave guides like a jaynes-cummings dimmer thus controlling where the light gets to the vanadium thus controlling the circuitry of the hull and how it guides the magnetic flux lines for thrust direction.

Have neato triangle that can fly in atmosphere or water (maybe need to change the amplitude of the HID output to also excite the hydrogen atoms in the water along with the oxygen atoms and the fact that it's already semi conductive SALT water. ) Should be quiet. Will push air out of it's way, has the graphene, utilizes light. maybe hybrid the design with other propulsion ideas speculated about.

@Bassplyr Holy Shiite rebels- I think you just imagineered one lol.

Where are the Plasmonics guys when you want them?.....it strikes me as odd that this area of technology has been the subject of fervent speculation on ATS before- however none of those people seem remotely interested now.... even though their theories are becoming less and less "out there" as mainstream science publications allow us to understand more about the Gaps and Holes in "natural" physics.

In terms of secrecy, a WEAV type program probably wouldn't need the significant "shared" infrastructure and human resources of a conventional black project either (Specialist airfields, specialised fuels, tankers or conventional ground maintenance crews) so it would be easier to compartmentalize and bury.

Hell, you might even let the "enemy" get a look at your F35 schematics and let them waste billions trying to recreate technology you have already left behind in preference for something even more WOW!

Nice... I read about a concept car that was going to use thorium for a power source.. it gives 20 million times the energy as an equal amount of coal.. the radio activeness is so low it can be shielded with tinfoil and wouldn't need to refuel for 100 years..

With this plasma idea, wouldn't that also greatly reduce friction? If the idea works and if I'm understanding this correctly.. they should be able to reach tremendous speeds..

I find it interesting that this has emerged at a time when we are being treated to news about MIT's Ion thrust experiments, as well as NASA's microwave thrust experiments, and Skunk Work's small fusion reactor. Where was all this stuff hiding? What's going on?

Listened to a Podcast featuring Aaron Frank from the Singularity University and he provided a fairly sensible argument (ripped off from Ray Kurzweil possibly) about the exponential progress of "core technologies".

Didn't have time to go through each of his points word by word but the bottom line was that all technology has a traceable exponential curve and that we have reached a point in the last 100 years where the capacity of humanity to process information has increased in line with Moores law resulting in a speeding up of scientific discovery.

He summised we are now at a point of information processing that means technological change will come about quicker and quicker until future shock becomes a daily event rather than a monthly, yearly or 100 yearly event (as seen throughout history).

I understand that we (mankind) has made many leaps in technology over time, but I can't believe that these technologies just didn't exist until now. I realise that the fine tuning is where the rubber meets the road, but it is a little odd that in the space of a few months we've gone from 'oh, well, we'll make the best of what we've got already' to 'here's three brand new ways of doing it.'

I'm sure over the course of time there have been many such periods of massive advances in technology (usually attached to warfare, unfortunately), and 'Sci-Fi' becoming reality is becoming a norm, but it's still quite unbelievable that similarly unusual disciplines all converge at once. Sure the leap from propellers to rockets, and jets must have been huge, but from rockets and jets to Ion wind, plasma, and microwave propulsion is mind blowing.

Just trying to get my head around it. Interesting times.

That could have been what happened with the military industrial complex. One little break through in solid state electronics back In the day and a avalanche of discovery and tech floods in. Too good of an advantage to give up so they cover it up knowing eventually about 80 years later the general public will also make the few needed discoveries that they already had that would put the public on the wave of discovery too. Knowing this would happen they took the time to get the advantage of a 80 year head start thus maintaining a foreseeable advantage. As long as they have a continuity of the same amount of money and research going into their programs they will be able to maintain that head start and advantage. The trick was to keep a lid on this wave of discovery long enough to put them forever at the forefront of the wave.

next large post I do, maybe later tonight will be on transient mass fluctuations utilizing poly-phasic AC electrical oscillations between a capacitor and a resonant mass (space ship), the mach principle and inertial impulse propulsion. This one won't need a plasma medium to travel. Will work in a vacuum like space.

The exponential curve analogy suggests eventually you get to a point where progress becomes a straight line up on the graph (Time V Progress)..you don't see it coming because at a critical point the trend changes from gradual creep over hundreds of years to giant leaps in a matter of months.
Imagine what will happen when computers have the brainpower of humans yet none of the distractions of the physical world.

I'd read that...whatever it is...has it got anything to do with the gap generation mechanism?

Sometimes the thing driving change can be simplistic...a good example is the electron microscope and its ability to allow us to see the world of small scale- if that was invented in a secret military lab we might all be cleaning and greasing our valves and vacuum tubes before winding our computers up.

Just on an associated note, those perfect nano spheres they were creating which improves optics....I wonder if a new generation of (quantum) microscopy would provide the inventor with a strategic advantage in Physics?
