What really amazes me about that video is that not a single piranha was killed or at least injured during that frenzy.

Reminds me of the pirahnas in a bar in Sheboygan Wisconsin years back. It cost a quarter to have the bartender throw in a goldfish. My friend was in there with me and payed for a dozen gold fish. Wow, that was quite a show. They settled down and a couple of gold fish were still swimming around, the rest were torn to shreds. That was only five or six pirahnas.

I'm kind of sure that feeding goldfish to the pirhanas was kind of nice in the eyes of the pirhanas. You have to look at it in a point of perspective. I am sure keeping a fish in an aquarium is actually kind of cruel in the eyes of the fish.

Where do you draw a line, and does the line have a hook and bobber on it?

believe it or not, back in the day people swallowed goldfish as a stunt.
1) Ick!
2) poor fish.

having said that, the normal fate of a goldfish (carp) in the wild is to be eaten.
They wouldn't hesitate to eat us, if they were big enough.

If you didn't feed the piranhas goldfish ... what would you feed them? They do need to eat.

But seriously, feeding live feeder goldfish is a bad idea as they carry parasites. Still piranhas are both omnivores and predators, so the best diets for these fish in the aquarium will take both those facts into account. A lot of serious hobbyists raise their own sources of feeder fish to make sure the fish are healthy. You could also use live earthworms, insects, crustaceans as well as frozen, but the live ones will help those predatory urges out.

I know huh and it is amazing to think piranhas should not exist by appetite alone.
Such veraciousness should cause them to eat each other out of existence.
