(Reuters) - Anti-capitalist protesters clashed with riot police near the new headquarters of the European Central Bank (ECB) in Frankfurt on Wednesday and set fire to barricades and cars, casting a pall over the ceremonial opening of the billion-euro skyscraper.

Protesters, police clash near new European bank HQ in Frankfurt

The crisis rolls on unabated, with governments still doing little but shoring up the most visible cracks in our economies.

The youth are feeling it. They're the ones out on the street protesting, and perhaps they should be. After all, it's not their parents feeling it the way they are, it's not the rich feeling it, corporations continue to grow and the rich just keep filling their pockets, while being given cushy little tax deals by our governments to PAY EVEN LESS.

I don't like seeing this kind of unrest in Europe, but I expect it to continue until our governments take our economies seriously and actually start taxing those who need to be taxed, imprisoning those who should be imprisoned, scaling back the incessant greed and preventing the wealthiest in the world from avoiding their responsibilities while the young are left to struggle.

You'll notice that all of these violent protests and riots are headed up by people in their teens and 20's, and this is simply because they know they're the ones who are going to suffer. They're the lost generation, the ones who will have to live hand-to-mouth, struggle, never own their own home, never have a secure future or a secure career.

The older generations have stolen from them, put them into massive debt, burdened them with an economic collapse they never caused.

Is anyone surprised they're f-ing angry?

How exactly have older generations caused these debts? The majority of the debt is western countries has been accumulated fairly recently... like 20 years. Exponentially the past 10 years.

In the main, because they acquiesced so meekly to their proclaimed betters.

Sounds more like Generation Y. Most of the old folk I know work hard and are educated in political and life realities. It's the ones from Generation Y, my generation, who rollover to anything that is 'hip'. "Ohhhh I wanna vote for the first black president! Idk anything about him, but he is black!!"

Don't get me wrong. A lot are starting to wake up, but this debt is still too new to blame on older generations.

This isn't correct. A generation is about 20-30 years depending on who you talk with. The reality is that much of the US debt has been accumulated since Bush who started in 2001. So much of the current debt was created with the current 'generation'.

www.ritholtz.com...

I believe the protest you discussed was surrounded by the anti-austerity crowd in the EU. The group that wants to spend MORE and not worry about debt.

Part of me that still is young at heart wishes mobs bring back the guillotine. Thousands of politicians bureaucrats and businessmen have committed treason and sdition. They could be rightfully executed.

The spiritually evolved part knows with absolute certainty that our spiritual progress as a species is wholly dependent upon absolute forgiveness.

Over the next couple years, humanity shall face the ultimate test. As details of the fraud and depravity are released, it shall be a battle between our hearts and minds to see if we can resist the baser urges and not kill.

I almost believe the dark side has planned disclosure of the facts to prove the average human being is not yet ready to ascend into the golden age and still must by governed with an iron fist like so many incorrigible mentally ill youth in a maximum security prison.

Either way, guillotines or forgiveness, I'm psyched to have a front row seat.

If dick cheyney weighs as much as a duck, and I would bet my next month's wages on it, he's a witch and should be burned. That of course goes for Bush, Rumsfeld, Lieberman, feinstein, virtually all of Capitol Hill and the Supreme Court.

That would be one hell of a fire.

I'm inclined to agree, not only that, much of the debt is due to the banking mismanagement, which in my view was criminal...and not only that, apart from a few godfathers who remain, most of the damage was done by fairly young wheeler dealers.

I was going to post this story yesterday but I thought I would wait to see who actually reported on it:

Russia Today were first, Reuters was a slow second and there's still not a whiff of this story on the BBC or Sky News, or if there is you really have to search for it haha.

F*ck the BBC & Sky News

Unfortunately the BBC has always been incredibly slow, and sometimes completely misses stories (conveniently).

A lot of people lost trust completely in the BBC back in 2013 when we had a major incident at the Dartford Crossing and the BBC was not mentioning anything about it at all.

There were hundreds of people stuck in their cars in the tunnel and on the bridge with armed officers all over the place, and they were all tweeting out from it asking what was going on... the BBC never mentioned a word about it even while it was trending on Twitter and the BBC were openly being called gov puppets.

They've completely ignored major protests in London several times too, and back during Occupy it took them almost two weeks before they started reporting on any of it.

Despite all the criticism of ISIL and other nasty ideologists on here, this sort of thinking seems to be fairly prevalent. I'm certainly glad such important stuff isn't decided by popular vote.

Even if most of the debt was accumulated in the last 10-20 years it's still the older generation who caused it.
somebody who is 20 or 30 now, cant be blamed for ploicies bought in 10-20 years ago.
