Alzheimer's

Ummm...I want to thank SyxPak...we were talking in another thread about aging and memory...thus this poem was born...out of the inspiration of that moment...


Alzheimer's


Memory does not serve me well
Each minute cast one after another
Down...deep into the abyss
Far down below the mundane thing
Beneath the conscious plane
Into the realm of forgetfulness
Lulled into acquiescence
Sated on a voice not heard
A pressure not felt
A compulsion unknown

Thus is memory to me
A thief's prize...lifted


If there were any other lines to further the intent of this poem...then I've..........................forgotten...

I like it!!! See I have a horrible memory cause I had a traumatic brain injury in 2008 of August. Memory is something I crave for a lot. And I'm scared as I get older it will just get worst.. So I have to live for each day as it comes to me

I love the word abyss ... It always makes me think of my lil nine yr old son singing the David Bowie song moonage daydream, He sings "I'm a rock and roll abyss for you" .. Hehe... But it really says I'm a rock and rollin b*tch for you ... But I can't let him say that yet!!

Anyway.. Nice poem

Ummm...Thank you Natalia...I like your philosophy of living each day as it comes to you...When it's all said and done...that's really all we have anyway is one long chain of moments juxtaposed by our conscious zeal for their integration...

I know also what you mean about placing limits on your children...I did the same...Yet now that my daughter is an adult...She sometimes sounds so like me...cussing like the the proverbial trooper...She's a smart young lady though and keeps it to private company...
