No, I do my own research on these things and Putin is a gangster, pure and simple.

And 140 million Russians are gangsters too

That is how Hollywood education works isn't it

Nice

I never said that, but have come to the conclusion Putin and his hoodlums are.

What part of being a popularity contest do you not understand? Good leaders will do things to better the country even if they are unpopular. Such actions decrease your Presidential rating. Couple that with the diverse list of values that Americans can have and the rating will rarely get very high. None of this means that the President was a bad or good President though.

Again, you can't determine a President's legacy until AFTER he has left office. Then you get to look back on it as a whole and see the ripple effects of his policies. Why did you ignore the second paragraph of the previous post that shows that Obama and Bush's Presidential ratings aren't that far off from the norm and they don't even hold the worst ratings ever.

Or, we can hire an athletic celebrity to ride around on horses shirtless, with so much pomp and narcissistic grandiosity.

Or, we can just pay someone to fiddle while the nation and it's people BURN.

That would actually be hilarious if an American presidential candidate seriously did that. I think people would see it more like a Jon Stewart-type parody than take it seriously.

I know you're just a troll, but I'll still respond to you despite.

1) I didn't even imply the president should hate his country. I only said a patriotic president alone wouldn't be enough.

2) The funny thing is, you KNOW the current U.S. government problems can't be solved simply by a "patriotic president" since you seem to think the U.S. Government is an autocracy disguised as a Democracy.

You invalidated your rebuttal in the same breath that you spoke it.

Thanks for playing.

So your entire argument is that American people are confused as to what their values are

And so the president reflects that by being confused as well.

Sounds like nonsense to me

Where is that American Putin whom people will love for being a patriot ?

So you think what America needs is a warmongering ex-soviet KGB Spy who will change the constitution so he can stay in office indefinitely and whose political opponents conveniently die every now at then and who could be worth billions?

Don't think I can agree with you on that one OP

You can be truthful by basing your conclusion on unbeknownst bad data, but your still wrong in the end.

However, in your case I'm not so sure its unbeknownst?

IMO the last true patriot to hold office was Kennedy - which is exactly why he was killed. Lone gunman my ass.

Well said.

I assure you there is nothing "wrong " with me. Just commenting on the state of our leadership and how we are lacking in it. Leave this country ? I have been here all my life. I am what you may say "an original American" . Do you know that my comment is backed by the Constitution and the Bill of Rights? Do you know that once upon a time I swore an Oath to this country to defend the Constitution against enemies foreign or domestic ? How about instead of leaving to go to Russia , we try to change using our powers as a voter. And instead of just voting for a President or elected official just because he or she is "on our team" . we vote for the best candidate. Of course , that is an idea that is basically unheard of now

Unless that single Putin is part of a skull-and-bones, NWO family, they have no chance. Well, unless of course they are a CFR endorsed, Manchurian candidate without any past people who know them or documentation like school records.

How can you possibly believe that the politicians that read from tele-prompters have any actual say in the real program? They just read from the script provided for them. Their "legacy" as you put it is really just a measure of how well they performed that task, i.e., fooling most of the people most of the time.

Jeez, get real…

Unfortunately, people are so entrenched in their respective "teams" that the mere suggestion that the American people should vote for the BEST candidate, and not the "party" candidate is tantamount to treason. Thank you for your service, by the way. I may not be an American much longer, but I still hold a deep respect for the men and women who serve.

CNN is the king of western propaganda

And if they had to admit Putin has above 80 % that means it is true

You think CNN would be covering for Putin, you do know they slander him every week

That would actually be Fox News which has twice as many viewers. I don't think anyone is questioning whether or not the approval rating is accurate. What you're ignoring is that approval ratings are basically a measure of popularity and popularity isn't necessarily a very good measure of anything. Hitler had something like a 90%+ approval rating. He declared himself Fuhrer, had millions of people murdered and tried to take over the world.

Speaking of which, Stalin has apparently enjoyed renewed popularity in recent years. Under Stalin millions of people were murdered and sent to forced labor camps. From Moscow Times (Mar '13):

One of the report's authors, Lev Gudkov, a sociologist at the Levada Center, which conducted the survey, noted that in 1989, the peak of Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev's efforts to liberalize the country and expose Stalinist crimes, only 12 percent of Russians polled described Stalin as one of the most prominent historical figures.

In the Carnegie poll last year, 42 percent of Russian respondents named Stalin as the most influential historical figure.

Maybe there is a popular desire among some Russians to live under the rule of an iron fist?

Are you suggesting you believe Putin's popularity rating is as high as it is claimed to be?

Dare anyone speak out against him publicly, without fear of losing their life?

This is probably the right graph to look at...

Level of Russian citizens' approval of President Vladimir Putin

And yes, there isn`t a Western Politician who`s able to score those kinds of numbers.

There`s Dutch journalist who speaks Russian and who isn`t a Putin fan, says his Russian friends, who weren`t Putin fans, have actually become Putin fans just recently and he talks about how surreal that is.

Here is where he says that (but it`s Dutch)...

Jelle Brandt Corstius (Dutch)

Jelle Brandt Corstius Wikipedia (Google Translate)

So Putin his high approval rating compared to those of Western Politicians is probably right.

You know I was trying to keep my posts as neutral as possible with as little conspiracy bias as I can. Those assertions you made aren't proven no matter how solid you think the reasoning is for it to be true, so I didn't include them. Not that I believe them anyways, but whatever. I wasn't trying to turn this thread into another stupid NWO fear fest.

If you don't want to end up like Nemstov, I guess it's safer to say 'yes, I approve'.
