It has now been almost two weeks since this incident, and we hear nothing more about it. The suspect has not been identified, and he apparently will face no legal consequences for his act. Nothing more to see here.

Down the memory hole it goes!

Flight returns to Dulles after passenger becomes violent

The passenger was taken to a hospital for evaluation and has not been charged, airport spokeswoman Kimberly Gibbs said.

My speculation is the evaluation included more than just a standard medical screening. It most likely resulted in a psychiatric evaluation. HIPAA ties their hands in terms of what medical information the hospital can legally provide to law enforcement or the public.

if there is some sort of mental issue present then any type of criminal charges will be difficult since most criminal laws require intent as well as the person being in their right frame of mind when it occurred.

If a psychiatric issue is the reason then criminal charges would be of no use and would do nothing to help this guy get help.
