www.independent.co.uk...

Just read about this and found it interesting.

Hopefully other sky watchers find it just as exciting.

Right on. Thanks for the heads up!

For anyone else that didn't know what a Super Moon was:

A supermoon is the coincidence of a full moon or a new moon with the closest approach the Moon makes to the Earth on its elliptical orbit, resulting in the largest apparent size of the lunar disk as seen from Earth. The technical name is the perigee-syzygy of the Earth-Moon-Sun system.

Your very welcome.

I'm hoping the clouds stay away. There is already a chance for bad weather. It's a small chance but, I'll still have my fingers crossed for a clear sky anyway.

The Spring Equinox is a rare event now? I've seen it about 36 times already.

Well 'not occurring often' is a definition of 'rare'. So in that respect I think it qualifies.

While coinciding with a super moon as well as a solar eclipse...yep.

I would consider that quite rare.

What does this have to do with superstition?

There are already several other threads about this. I find the part with the north pole especially interesting. Here is what I wrote:

March 20 - Equinox Supermoon Total Solar Eclipse ending EXACTLY at the North Pole !

and two other threads:

Supermoon total eclipse of equinox sun on March 20

Solar Eclipse in part of the Northern hemoshpire march 20th 2015

And as of yesterday we know that Russia's northern fleet is having a 5 days full combat readiness exercise - ending the day of the eclipse in exactly that area...

After Putin just returned from a prolonged mystery absence. Makes me wonder if that resembles any eastern orthodox pascha rituals...

This is pretty awesome. I wonder how often this happens? Love your avatar by the way. I'm a bit Gonzo myself.

No, not really. What does the OP have to do with superstition exactly?

I'm just wondering. What is the point of your post?

I can't believe I missed all of those threads. My bad for repetition.
