The vast majority of parents DO NOT WANT THIS.

It caused such a furore in Ontario the first time it was proposed that the Premier at the time, McGuinty, had to withdraw it.

It was conveniently not mentionned in the last election campaign - the electorate thought that this was settled.

Now that the election is behind them, they re-introduce it.


The current legislation does not allow parents to opt out

I agree and what I observed that which young children were up to was surprising. The naive boys would play doctor with naive girls (both not really knowing what they are doing, but the girls getting the worst of it), boys would run around showing their genitals, older boys would try to rape younger girls...it goes on. I live in Ontario and this province is as backward as they come, however, I do feel that parents may know their children better than anyone else and as such should have the last say in this. However, for those parents who are forward thinking, the schools should still conduct sex ed. classes, because it's a whole new big internet world.

And what we are talking about is using the school system to introduce 8 year olds to adult content. And not just introduce but to indoctrinate. What can we call a curriculum written by a lesbian? Let me just tell you what I witnessed after a class of high school 'boys' finished one of their sex ed. classes...they were blowing up condoms like balloons and laughing like five year olds. At that age, senior high school, I would expect more maturity and seriousness about preventing pregnancy.
