Reporting on 'speculation' makes me think maybe there is something to all of this.

Yeah, when I saw the "Twitter Storm" begin last night, it was clear that something unique and potentially terrible was/is happening.

And now I think it's to the point where the mainstream can't ignore it much longer.

I'll split my hand rolled Castros (the former Prez's personal stash in deed, I have two) and a 25 year old Makers Mark with you for a Cohiba and some JW Blue...

We should go out as gents after all.

I also think we should invite doompornjunkie into our tent as he seems to "get it" too.

Maaann ... how do I get in on this? Cubans aren't illegal in my town and I only cracked open a bottle of Dalwhinnie two days ago. Skype session at least? LOL. Gotta love the back-end of ATS threads!!

Many on Twitter, some very credible, are pointing to the overall silence of the Russian Troll Army as being a reliable sign of a coup.

Edit vid might be old and unrelated

Yeah. I caught that one earlier. It's been identified as from 2012 from the comments in the video.

Touche to your touche, I hadn't thought of it in such apocalyptic terms, I'll grab my cylindrical, royal blue bottle and join you in the swigfest if that's what's happening.

I'll grab my cheap ass bottle of Vodka and virtually *clink* a shot with both of you, if it comes down to it..

(assuming ATS is still online)

Well, you and Thorne should get your tickets to AZ in advanced.

I have a little over 1,000 cigars and a case of Hendrics.. I won't have enough time to do it alone once the missiles start flying.

If something has happened ... and Putin has been eliminated ... it will take but a mere rumor of CIA involvement for the Russian people to want a blood debt repaid.

On the other hand ... if Putin is OK, and he has put down a coup ... it will take a mere rumor of CIA involvement for the Russian people to want to want a blood debt repaid.

Either way ...... the Dogs of War need to be held on a tight leash.

Now the Economist is reporting on Putin's absence.

When the tsar vanishes

VLADIMIR PUTIN has not been verifiably seen in public since March 5th, and no one knows why. The president has postponed a planned visit on March 11th to Kazakhstan. Moscow is abuzz with rumours linking the Russian president's sudden reticence to the murder of Boris Nemtsov. Some hint that tension between Mr Putin and his Chechen surrogate, Ramzan Kadyrov, over the arrest of five Chechen men accused of killing Mr Nemtsov is to blame. Other rumours have been more outlandish. Andre Illarionov, a former advisor of Mr Putin's, wrote in a blog post that a coup might be underway against Mr Putin; a Swiss tabloid reported that he had flown to Switzerland to attend the birth of a love child with a Russian gymnast. Russia's government says Mr Putin has simply been feeling a bit unwell.

They're implying that when an autocrat disappears, it's not always an immediate sign of weakness; it may have been strategically calculated.

Yes I keep checking. More and more American news sources are starting to make mention.
Notably though. Fox has not said a thing. Google Putin.

Today's the day. As far as loose nukes. Yikes.

I'm not too sure about the Twitter storm. Twitter comments are like chickenpox in a kindergarten class, they spread quickly then die out.. most of the people spreading them don't have their reputations on the line neither.

Let's stay on topic folks. This has turned into a huge thread and is getting a lot of attention today at a pace of two new pages every hour. Not to mention a great deal of incoming traffic. Let's not make it even more difficult for people to follow this fast-moving topic.

Thanks.

What time is it in Moscow? WHERE IN THE HELL IS PUTIN? Shouldn't he be appearing sometime soon now?

Now NBC News: Mystery in Moscow: Where Is Vladimir Putin? (Video)

They pretty much touch on all the major social media rumors/reports… and even mentioned the fake/pulled broadcast.

"It could be the story of the year, or it could be nothing."

Very safe coverage of the madness.

He's supposed to show up in St. Petersburg today.

It's early in the morning (7:50 AM?), and Moscow is just starting to come to life.

Silence of the trolls demonstrates someone had the power to silence them.

Wonder if there are any recent absences of Putin administrative stooges at all the gov controlled medias?

Fox has not said a thing.

If they did, they might be guilty of running with a conspiracy theory ... and then they couldn't talk about 'us' anymore in a negative light. LOL

I wouldn't make any bets on Putin's circumstances ATM.

Skeptic.
Is this supposed to be a closed door meeting today? Will this not make it hard to verify if they're told to hush in St. Petersburg?
