So does the President of the US. So what. They don't go flying into the White House to have coffee with him.

The helicopter fleets are designed to get the right people to the right places in the event of a crisis, not pick them up and fly them to the Kremlin because there's traffic in Red Square, or to the White House because the Beltway is backed up.

There are roughly a dozen A-10s. Not enough to really do anything.

The flag has been flying over the Kremlin for 14 years until two days ago. The building is still in daily use.

Uh oh.

Are they rummaging through the basement for that really big red and yellow one?

What I'm suggesting is that the situation may not be as alarmingly abnormal as you might think, helicopters shuttling the President and VIP's to or from the kremlin isn't unusual.
The presence of tanks on the street and other military hardware are most likely
victory day parade preparations that typically tape place 3- 4 months prior to the actual event.
Alternatively and least likely imo, there could have been a major incident and we are witnessing the beginnings of martial law and military take over, the president is either in hiding, being held against his will, in poor health or deceased.
What is alarming is the possibility of a major nuclear power falling in chaos or new leadership run by Russian warhawks who may not be as willing as Putin to compromise with the west.

So tanks waiting for a parade normally sit with guns pointed at buildings?

It's a good sign the "war faction," aka "Big Blood" has gained the upper hand. Sergey Ivanon and Gen. Shoigu, along with the KGB elite (FSO, FSB), even the Russian Orthodox Church.

Anders Aslund @anders_aslund has been tweeting a breakdown of the rival factions at work in the Kremlin.

I can't find any links at the moment but I have seen this pic debunked in other threads. It is from several years ago. The proof was in the lines painted in the street. The area is now pedestrian only, no vehicles allowed.

There are way too many reports of odd military activity for a mere celebration, or nothing going on.

One of them has been tied to multiple FSB special operations as a communications platform. Several orbited the building after taking off again according to reports.

Somehow I doubt an FSB special helicopter is used as a taxi.

I have seen very little in the way of any reporting on the Prime Minister or NK being in Russia on Friday. That particular piece is bugging me....

Another odd bit of this is that Putin was pretty regularly using Twitter up until March 6....then nothing.

You'd think there would be at least a few.

My bet is Putin is dead. There was a coup. Just waiting for a major announcement tomorrow in MSM.
