If these underground facilities do exist, they must have an army of engineers and workers to building and maintain them.

How would one get a job? I'm a mechanical/architectural engineer. How would I find a contact in this area?

someone posted a link a while back for a contractor - some company that hires out civilian security for Area 51 etc. Who posted that, or who knows where the website is?

You need to pass a FBI background check. Second be granted a security clearence, and then go through a mental test just so they know. Although most people don't just apply for the kind of jobs, they are selected. So unless you have a history in this kind of work don't exspect them to be interested. Now to establish a contact in this area, you are going to have to find out where these burrowers hang out. I reccomend the local bars around noon, sometimes earlier. Look up where facilities have been recently constucted, somebody needs to be in the area incase of serious repairs/modifications and so on.

I went to the grocery store a few days ago, and I saw these 2 guys in black suits and black sun glasses sitting at a desk in the front of the store. I approached them and asked what they were passing out to people in the store. To my suprise, they said they were passing out applications for entry level work at top secret bases all around America, they even said that their were no requirements which had to be met!

If there are no requirements, then what do they work as? Janitors?

They probably just work at home doing really small jobs.

Here in Alaska many of these workers for our remote facilities are
ex-military. Which were stationed at one of these sites for awhile
retired or was discharged and then simply switched over to the
civilian contractors. These contractor agencies comprise an entire infrastructure
supporting the facility of interest. Wheter mechanical, electrical,
building maintanence, food service, transportation etc.
Security clearance? Yes each and every individual working in this
infrastructure has been checked out. Even after being discharged
from the military, where the original security clearance was obtained.
"Need to Know" limits each worker to only his assigned duties
while performing his function on site.
Due to these sites being physically remote from populated areas
the workers are rotated out on a say, three week on - one week
off schedule. Impossible to maintain a normal family life. In other
words, you cant pick up a telephone there and resolve your sons
problems at school with your wife back in Anchorage. No internet
access either. Upon arrival, departing the aircraft one is escorted
directly to the small terminal, where you wait for your small bag
of toiletries, underwear, several coveralls (one has no need for
"informal attire") is searched and that is all that better be in
your possession. All of this is made crystal clear before working
for these folks.
One of the larger contractors that handle support tasks at remote
arctic sites is:

www.nana.com...

When asked "where have you been for the past 5 years? "
even if its your mother asking, the - only - response you will
say is " Ive been working for Nana corporation". Thats it ...
nothing else. Often people will pry, or ask a series of invasive
questions, further & future social contact ends with said
"outsiders". Burnout rate is high, you cant even list newly acquired
job skills while working for Nana Corp. on future job applications
that too is a security violation. For example:
One works as a truck driver for a food service company quits
and is employed for Nana corp the next 10 years. Do you think
this said individual can put on a future job resume that he can
supervise, maintain, monitor the electrical power generation
of a small self contained power plant (nuclear). Everything from
facility heating to site communications. Please bear in mind that
many of these obscure facilities are in remote areas of the
arctic which are also considered by many as "enviromentially
sensitive". Enjoying further protection such as wildlife reserves
refuges, even national park status.
I hope I havent come across as condescending or argumenitive
in the above response. I apologize in advance. If your still curious
do a search at nana.com using the search term "jobs" and it'll
bring a broad spectrum of links.
www.nana.com...
www.nana.com...
From reading some of the above links, they mention that Nana
has a annual payroll of about 55 million ....

Greetings to all.

Chances are, if you go up askinc for a super secret job, you are going to be blacklisted. They do not want someone that wants to work at a secret base, they want someone that is good at what they do firstly, and can keep a promise. Someone that WANTS to work at a secret base/cia field op/ NSA annalyst is going to want to run their mouth, and this is a risk.

Think of it as someone wanting to join the police force to kill people. Not exactly apples to oranges, but the fellings of the supervisors would be somewhat parrallel.

Secret work is not all that interesting. I have worked on "classified" parts for an AH-64 oil pump test stand. Not sure what the hell the part did, just knew the diminsions, and that it was secret. Looked like some sort of timing gear for an inductive pickup ( probably to measure speed). There was no security clearance neccesary, just the requirement that we did not duplicate the blueprints. The other parts were probably farmed out to other companies, as is the way of compartmentilization.

I assume you're a native born American and have not been convicted of a crime, have not been in an inpatient facility for emotional or mental problems, didn't do drugs, and your finances are in order, i.e., you've never filed for bankruptcy. Aso, I assume you don't gamble, i.e, heavily involved in casinos, on-line betting, etc.

If you fail any of these basic criteria, forget it; you won't be able to get such a job, because you will not be able to get a Special Access clearance. Of course, if you're an ex-service member with a clean record, that will surely help.

(The only clearances I have had were SECRET and COMSEC, which are not very high at all; yet I underwent several series of close interviews by DISCO, about four months of background checks and verifications by the FBI, and so on.)

Okay, let's assume you're a modern-day Boy Scout and you have a fairly recent BSME or BSCE. Let's also assume that you have a stong background in things like HVAC analysis, which is probably key to designing and maintaining low-profile buildings; and you're able -- because of marital or other considerations -- to travel extensively and work in different locations.

Now go get a job with an outfit like Brown and Root or some of the other big defense construction and facilities contractors; try to get into an assignment which requires a Special Access (and get it; it should take from six months to a year); and once you have it, keep your nose clean, work hard, and volunteer for any location-critical assignment.

In other words, if you want to work on secret whizzbangs, you already have to be a Bright Boy and a Solid Citizen, and you also have to work very hard for several. years in order to get there.

And even then, there's no guarantee that you'll get posted to some whizzbang assignment like that, and if you do, you won't be able to share your info with anyone, not even your spouse.

Given all that, you might want to re-think your career plans!
