As I can't see the video in the States, which song specifically?

I love them, btw... Fire is great, heh, loved that old video for it... and I'm old, too... but I was a gleam in Daddy's eye or a zygote when these guys commanded a stage... thanks in advance.

Heck, I'm going through their old stuff now and it's all pretty great!

Time Captives was the song in the video (lot different than Fire), but I thought of some more LOL. Hawkwind, Hall of the Mountain Grill, Audience, House on the Hill, Tangerine Dream, Phaedra. On the Captain Lockheed and the Starfighters (Eric Wolfson, Alan Parsons, Hawkwind and Arthur Brown), Ejection is pretty cool and also the Song of The Gremlin (as well as the reprise) or Angel With One Wing. There are so many seriously good old tunes from artists that were way advanced of their times.

Cheers - Dave

Sorry I know mine have been All over the place...but that is kinda my style with music.
I love watching and listening to all of the new songs you post!!!

Anyway...here is one I just found recently. I LOVE Lindsey Sterling. She can take almost anything and give it a completely different personality. I am not the opera type, except for The Phantom of the Opera. The music is enchanting!!! Anyway, here is a mix by Lindsey (and the best part....they actually rock it out this hard on Broadway!)

'All over the place musical tastes' are good... at least I hope so, anyway... after all, I know most of the good alt stuff from 1975-1995 but am fully aware there is (much) more to find... thus this thread!

That was a good one...I'm a sucker for violins in pop songs (see Camper Van Beethoven from the early pages). Never heard of Lindsey (but I'm in pre- coffee state) .. .thank you... very much. And didn't know this was in Phantom... huh... well, I liked it.

And here is a veeeery well known and loved alt pick from the punk-pop world, but just in case there are some young-uns out there...

Me too...

I really like this cross musical genera approach and the gritty lyrics take it to a whole new level.
Here's one I shot and helped produce that's a tad quirky...

I love short films set to music...like this one my friend stared in. Great acting without words or dialog by all the principals.

Liked it.. .and yeah, if reduced to a couple words my preferences are (usually) "quirky" and "gritty."

And since some well known classics are being posted, here's a song that likely shaped my (and a few millions others) life in a big way...

How'd you get your teeth so pearly?
Dew-drop dentures, white-washed faces
She runs from the third world pearly

Vanilla
(Feel it crawl to me)
Milkshakes
(Crawl back again)
From Hard Rock
(Whatever you say)
Cafes
(Make it go away)

That's where
(I feel it crawl to me)
She got her
(Crawl back again)
Sweet tooth
(Make it go away)
For white boys
(Whatever you say)
She runs from the third world pearly

Hurts me
Darling hurts me
Darling use me
Darling use me

Ooooo some goodness Bean and Olaru (etc).

I've let this thread die a dignified death, but here's a lil voodoo to resurrect it ... one that's well known, but eclectic... and a hip-hop jazz fusion that's wonderful and from back in the early 1990's... Digable Planets. .they are incredible (thanks to Z for the reminder)... and the whole albums they did are worth listening to... this one is called Reachin (a new refutation of time and space) and it IS...

And since I can, I'll continue with an oldy that's hard to top as grungy garage punk- rock... and it even has a junkie poet singing... Jim Carrol's Catholic Boy album ...with the better known track People Who Died... RIP, now he's someone who died, too... but it has a neat rawness and he was a very nice, talented guy...
