Sure, I'll try.

The simplest way to say it is that you should be engaged with life. Not the "occult". Life is occulted enough and the real secrets are to be uncovered through our relationships.

The Jewish folks sort of nail it with the saying, "L ’ Chaim !"

Good enough?

If everyone lived that way, would the three magi have been there to shower baby Jesus with gifts?

from what u said u don't care for occults
so why bother listing them

Occult means hidden. I suspect you are confusing occult and cults. The two words do not mean the same thing.

Plotinus and Neo-Platonism came after the birth of Jesus by 200 years or so. Nevertheless, Plotinus claimed to be restoring the lost meaning of the teachings of Plato. Information is lost, recovered and lost again.

We seem to be undergoing a process, BlueMule.

Oh, so it was ok to use magic to find and worship the Christ before a certain date, but not after. Gotcha.

If you say so. I don't really find myself struggling with definitions of magic these days.

Keep up the good fight, BlueMule.

Well, I think it's you that's saying so. And the OP.

If the three wise men had listened to the OP, they would not have been able to shower baby Jesus with worthy gifts.

I believe that u are a ted more intelligent then that

u are very familiar with the terms

Your quarrel should be with the OP who, through his list, provided his definition of occult. That's the one I was using. I wonder why you don't question his list. Could you tell us?

I dispute that Jesus ever lived. As a mythological figure he was a Jew, of course.

Occult means hidden or secret. That's all it means. Your doctor can give you a diagnosis and if the cause of your disease is unknown, the doctor will indicate in the records that it is occult. The OP, on the other hand, is using the word to mean any belief or practice other than those he believes in or practices which is absurd.

A cult is a group that uses deception to recruit and threats or intimidation to retain members. The group is usually shaped in a pyramid structure with an "all-knowing" all-powerful charismatic leader at the top. The designation cult has nothing to do with ideology. I am giving you the definition used by cult experts. As you can see, the definition of cult and occult are not the same.

If he did live, he epitomized the psychological process of awakening that a mystic undergoes.

If he didn't live, his fictional story was written by people who understood that process. Only mystics understand that process.

Only mystics grok the gospel.

So, the distinction is meaningless. It doesn't matter whether he lived or not. I would have expected you to realize that, given your love of religious scholarship.

It certainly does matter within the context of Christianity whether he lived because it is a foundational belief of CHristianity that he died to "save us", etc.. It doesn't matter within the context of this thread so I wonder why you brought it up to begin with?
