Grandma, if you're a Christian, I defy you to look at what you're spouting and see the lies.

You know that it was the Southern states that wanted to keep the slaves, from the founding of the Republic until the 1960s (and today). Those Southern states are now in the Republican party and they're doing the same thing they've always done. Jesse Helms and Strom Thurmond left the Democratic party when they saw they could no longer have their racist ways and became a Republicans. The modern Republican party is not the Republican party of the 1870s-1960s and you know it. Thanks to the Southern/neo-Confederate racists, yours is now the party of voter suppression.

Equally poor? Is that because the Republicans have given our tax dollars to the corporate bigwigs who make millions a year so that they will "create jobs"? Where ARE those jobs? Oh, that's right, they've been sent out of this country to China and India because there's a penny or two more profit for the 1%-er's Swiss bank accounts.

Give me a break Grandma.

BS.

Republicans, wingnuts, the Right, ... whatever ... have been and are still fighting to avoid marriage equality and to inflict their religious view on the public at large at every opportunity.

Republicans, et. al. do not care about racial equality, and have done everything in their power to disenfranchise Black and poor voters.

Republicans believe in building the economy from the top down, in giving tax dollars away to corporations, and Republican policies have completely eviserated the American middle-class.

Republicans hide behind the Cross wrapped in the Flag while being the most extraordinary hypocrites claiming that liberals and Democrats do the very things they themselves are doing.

. . .ummm wasn't it the Republicans who fought to free the slaves and the Democrats who wanted to keep slavery? ummmm up until recently weren't the only former KKK members in the Congress Democrats? ummmm, I believe it was the Democrats who advertised themselves in the past as the "white man's party" - as I linked to in other threads.

Who doesn't know that that was a long time ago and that since then the 2 parties have flipped their party platforms?

That's realy a stale argument.

Ummm have you ragged on Christians for the Crusades?

The parties have not flipped their platforms, that is a myth.

Up until 2010 one of the leaders of the Democratic Party, Robert Byrd was a former KKK leader. and recruiter.
Wow, a long time ago huh?

I wonder what the US would look like if the progressive element of the DNC ruled supreme.

I donno maybe the U.S would look like a bigger version of Denmark Norway and Switzerland??

Could the same/identical US Constitution be applied then?

Ah donno...but they seemed happier than we are and their social policies rocks

Well, maybe if you like snow, very little sunlight for 1/3 of the year and
a 55-56% tax rate.
euobserver.com...

So if you don't mind giving the government more than 50% of your take home pay, then they may be the countries for you!

Hate snow, love sunlight ..soo burrrr!! and as your link says they pay higher% in taxes ..but are YOU ! or the average American happier than the avarage person from those..get ready far that dirty word, hope I don't get scolded by the Mods..SOCIALIST countries? ..the difference is their tax $$$ go into investing in people and infrastructure, ours goes into a military industrial complex and prison industrial complex.

Republican President Dwight Eisenhower’s idea of a significant marginal rate cut was to push the top rate down to 91 percent from 92 percent. Corporate taxes hit 50 percent. Jobs proliferated, wages rose, and the economy prospered. Lately, several documentaries have tried to capture the period, including “Something Ventured,” about how the technology boom got its start.

www.bloomberg.com...

Now many conservatives like to reminisce over the golden era called the 50ts the link above showed that Americans were happier back then with much higher taxes.

Doesn't mean that there isn't room for improvement.

It's your blanky, isn't it?

The U.S. Constitution was kind of a hurry up affair patched together from other sources.

It does allow for amendments and works as a framework to evolve with society and government changes.

In my readings I read that the Egyption constitution is really good, but don't want to go there and derail the thread.

Never let a good college education go to waste.

Progressives often blame others for what they themselves are guilty of.

They like to keep their ivory towers.

They are masters of illusion and fantasy.

Yada yada ... you repeat the same meaningless cant in every thread you post in.

Your post is nothing more than the verbal equivalent of raw sewage.

And I'll take an ivory tower filled with well-educated elitists any day over a clap-board church filled with hypocrites and ignorant liars.

Looks like we have to agree to disagree

Funny, I find all your statements about Republicans
and they appear to me
as distorted
as my statements appear to you. Ironic huh?

Voter suppression, odd,
I think the only people I remember holding billy clubs at the polls
and intimidating voters during the election for Obama were,
let me see, oh yeah, Black Panthers, Democrats.

And, oh by the way, despite it all being caught on video
Holder refused to prosecute, hmmmmm

But, I'm an old lady, too tired to argue now.

Your mythology of what you think Republicans
well they are memes put out by the Democratic leadership
to maintain their authoritarian totalitarian grip on power, in my opinion of course.

How about bigger and better rights?

It could also be clearer.

Yes, so do most of the recent ones.

How about Jesse Helms and Strom Thurmond?

Did they ever apologize for their rank racism?

Mr. Byrd for the last ten years of his life repented regularly expressed his regret over the poor choices he had made in his youth.

Oh, but repentance is only for the Chosen Ones, right?

Wow.

I think the main reason Southern Democrats switched parties was because they were ashamed of the Southern Democrats' stance on equal rights.

Prove it. Oh that's right, you're the queen of stating opinion with no backup.

And when your cant is disputed by the facts, you're an old lady and you've set down your unsubstantiated BS and now you're just too tired to continue, we'll agree to dissagree as long as you get to leave with claiming "but I'm still right."

I've shown you repeatedly in these discussions that I have the facts on my side and you have empty rhetoric.

And how dare you? You speak in vapid regurgitated nonsense and claim that I don't understand what Republicans do and say?

What totalitarian power do Democrats have?

That's a lie, Grandma, and you know it.

Doesn't your God hate liars?

Rest well.

Do you think that makes any sort of sense to any sort of rational mind?

It doesn't. It's not cute, it's not funny, it's just absurd.

And another lie.

Thanks Annee, makes a lot of sense now.

It's a lost in translation thing I guess...

They call us "leftys" over here... Indicating some sort of wimpy mentality...

When really, a Liberal can be all along the political spectrum, depending on the policy.

Thanks for teaching me.

I never could understand the American definition of what a liberal is.

It seems to be completely opposite to what the rest of the world defines a liberal as.

And no matter how many times American ATS members try to bash it through our skulls that their definition is the correct one, the rest of us continue to live in actual, for real, liberal-flavoured countries that don't so much as even have a hint of what is being claimed.

North Korea has many corporations

North Korea is business savvy.

They might not be in as much deep debt as other countries with Socialist tendencies.

Like most of Europe and all of the Americas.

If you want a conservative utopia just take a little vacation to the middle east.
Joyous religious fundamentalism, persecution of gays, women kept on leashes (figuratively and literally). Don't forget lots of executions.
Plus their will be plenty of precious oil!

While you travel there I'll send you perfume scented risqué postcards from my vacation in Amsterdam.

Yep If North Korea is Liberal Utopia..then The Middle East is Republican Utopia.

Rights denied to gays, women and the minority cultures, religious freedoms being denied because they believe theirs is the only one that matters or is right.. ETC.

Always wondered why the right hates ISIS..they are just doing what they always talk about doing...just a very extreme version of them.
