“This is the first array of wave power generators to be connected to an electricity grid in Australia and worldwide,” said Ivor Frischknecht, CEO of the Australian Renewable Energy Agency, in a statement. The Agency has provided $13 million of the $32 million project.

It's good to see development of this means of power production and is something that more companies should be pursuing.

Not only does this technology address society's need for power, but it also touches on our need for fresh water:

The company’s technology named CETO after a Greek goddess of the sea converts ocean swell into zero-emission renewable power and zero-emission desalinated freshwater.

This seems to be a responsible use of a resource and a method wherein we can supply our needs without doing so in a manner which damages the environment we all depend upon.

This is fantastic! I just hope it doesn't have unintended consequences on local sea life.

Worst case scenario with this tech according to Southland Tales :

Look2theSacredHeart, that is certainly a concern.

Cant agree with that 13 mil upfront payment. Far too much of our taxes are going into corporate welfare as it is. No issue, if they pay the money back in a reasonable time though.

Never heard of this 'Australian Renewable Energy Agency.' Sounds like a corporate welfare outlet to me.
