A man has gone on a shooting spree in rural Missouri, killing seven people before turning the gun on himself, local media report.
The rampage occurred in the rural Missouri community of Tyrone, which is located roughly 40 miles north of the Arkansas border in Texas County.
The Texas County Sheriff's Office told Reuters they were conducting an investigation into the killings in multiple locations, but declined to provide further comment.
An elderly female who had died of natural causes was also found at another residence. A total of nine deceased individuals, including the shooter and the elderly female, were discovered. The individual who sustained injuries in the rampage was taken to an area hospital, AP reports.

CNN says 8 dead in 5 different homes
Nine people were found dead early Friday in at least four crime scenes in Texas County east of Springfield, according to media reports there.
The dead include eight victims who died of gunshot wounds, included a suspect in the shootings, and a woman found dead of apparent natural causes.
Texas County Sheriff James Sigman told the Houston Herald on Friday that as many as six crime scenes may be involved in the shootings in and area around the unincorporated community of Tyrone.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, at approximately 10:15 p.m. on Thursday night the Texas County Sheriff's Department requested assistance with a disturbance involving a weapon at a residence in Tyrone, Missouri. A juvenile female caller indicated she was in the residence and apparently heard gun shots. She fled to a neighbor's house to notify authorities. Responding deputies found two deceased persons at that residence, then five more bodies and one person wounded in three additional residences. At a press conference Friday morning, the Highway Patrol was not able to provide any information about the possible relationship of the juvenile to the deceased.
In another residence, authorities found the body of an elderly woman who appeared to have died from natural causes. The apparent suspect, a 36-year-old male from Tyrone, was found dead in a vehicle at a location in Shannon County from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The Houston Herald reported a Missouri State Highway Patrol officer said the elderly woman is the suspect's mother, and they are attempting to determine if it links to the crime spree.
The investigation is continuing by the Texas County Sheriff's Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol's Division of Drug and Crime Control.
A Highway Patrol spokesman said authorities are working to notify next of kin of the deceased before releasing names of those involved.
Scott Dill, superintendent of the K-12 Houston School District, which includes Tyrone, said he visited classrooms Friday morning and that many students were stunned.
"When I ask if they have any questions there is silence and a lot of tears," he said.
The district has 1,050 students, Dill said. He does not know if any of the students have a loved one who has been killed.
"They are trying to make sense of the information — and there is a lot of speculation," he said. "It's scary for the kids and for everyone involved."
Dill said he was first notified by law enforcement of the shooting deaths at about 2:45 a.m. Friday. He said he discussed possible options with police. If police had advised, he said, schools would have been closed. Another possibility was to re-route bus routes away from where the suspected shooter might be.
Dill said police told him at 5 a.m. the suspect had been found. There was no need at that point to close school, Dill said. Counselors were called in to talk to children.
Media from across the nation had contacted Dill Friday morning, including CNN, CBS-News and Reuters.
Dill has lived in Texas County eight years and has been superintendent 3 1/2 years.
He could not recall a shooting death in Texas County prior to Friday.
"Nothing comes to mind — certainly nothing like this," he said.
"It is a small community and we all know each other," he said. "When one of us is hurting we are all hurting."

Yeah...I thought the same thing. None of the articles make it clear if this was related or not, but it is odd to include if it was not related at all. Maybe that one lady that died is what set the shooter off....maybe a wife or mother or something that just tipped the scales to go on a rampage after she died?
