Maybe a government could be global and yet not overly powerful. A community could still be self-sufficient under a global government, if that government wasn't overly greedy, and done in a way that (to my taste, at least) would be acceptable.

What if a global government was just there to say "Well, here are a few unbreakable laws, you can't murder, you can't enslave, you can't rape or pillage. Besides that we really are here to provide organization for smaller collectives to collaborate under." Wouldn't that still be a global government, yet not infringe the rights of..... Anyone?

I doubt it'd actually come out that way, not in this day and age.... But.... A guy can dream, right?

Take a look at the COTUS and then get back to me on how well that idea has been working out for us lately.

It will grow. No matter where you put men in power, they will desire more for themselves and find those pesky penumbras that emanate and bring it to them.

Separate governments fighting each other is the biggest issue with the world today in my opinion, so in that sense a one world government seems like a good idea.

BUT... I know those who run it will find a way to fight wars anyways. If it's done in the right way it could be a huge step toward peace and people coming together instead of being at odds.

Patriotism is a plague in my opinion and teaches people to look down on those who are not from within the same arbitrary border as they are. I see both good and bad in the idea of one world government. The bad being all power being delegated to an even smaller number of people than today and the good being people seeing everyone as their neighbor without patriotism blinding them.

I'm on the fence on this one personally. I'll probably get flamed for not seeing it as a totally bad idea by some.

The necessary progressive authoritarian policies would kill billions.

Maybe that's his real goal.

The further away from your level your representatives are from you, the less accountable to you they are.

So let's see ... what's wrong with a world government? I don't know. What's wrong with Washington?

Now understand that a world government is even farther removed form you than Washington is. That's what's wrong with a world government.

If you left the problem to university students to solve they may come up with something like regional governments that connect centrally for food distribution, legal tenders, transportation etc. I'm confident they could come up with a way to keep diversified regions that need only comply to minimal central oversight. I'm sure it can be done.

University students??? You got to be kidding.

The inexperienced know it alls who just had a fresh brainwashing to embrace socialism?

No Thanks.

No problem.

University is supposed to prepare people to be able to go out and get experience. They don't start out at the top and get to skip the whole acquiring experience part.

I considered this as well. I am not literate at programming so I do not know, but is there a way that a program can be written, that is unable to be hacked but all the script is public and can be verified by any hobbyist or professional that knows how to interpret it?

I don't know if you can answer that but maybe this: Would you be comfortable with your name and region posted next to your vote?

Ketsuko, I would be very interested in your answer to that question as well. You did sound supportive of close communities so I would assume you would be OK with it. It would be posted globally, is why I won't assume.

As opposed to people with extensive experience in what we have today? I'm amused about getting to say what I am about to say to you - with your avatar and all...

We need REAL change. A fresh look. Who cares if it is ignorant to "reality"? reality is ignorant.

University students are in their prime. It is the last stop before the end of ideals. You don't like ideals?

What is wrong with a world government? What do you people think you are going to lose with a world government? Western superiority?

If we keep shunning our own governments and refusing to speak up or get involved, then our governments will be turned against us.

I don't care about Western superiority. What is wrong with a world government?
The problem is the top-down structure where individual liberty are not valued.
The solution is bottom-up government.

I agree. But who is up there asking for it?... Rich a holes like Gates, so it is going to be them and their buddies at the forefront fixing the game for themselves on a global scale.

I don't mean to sound like I'm ranting but I have always kind of though that the NWO conspiracies have been pushed to scare people away from the idea so that the wealthy do not have to maneuver their shady plans in public where people want the same thing but public control.

You agree the solution is bottom-up. Bill Gates is not a bottom-up thinker.
You are correct to say if Bill and his friends were to "fix" government it
would be for the benefit of the select few at the top. This is not what
called a bottom-up solution.

I agree that "NWO conspiracies" serve the Establishment. Anything that
can produce FEAR serves their agenda of CONTROL. I see it as a kind
of Artificial Intelligence. This the A.I. we have created with our GREED.
That A.I. has also been called "game theory" which is a good name for it.

The "games" we plan with government is a) that of the Child
b) that of the Parent, and 3) that of an Adult.

Canada is an example of Government by Adult.
America is an example of Government by Child.
Israel is an example of Government by Parent.

Three kinds of Government we seek:
The Child - lacking in self-government (Adult), has a need for the Parent
The Parent - totalitarian (total government, liberty restricted, punishment enforced)
The Adult - self-government (the best kind, because it can function under the other two).

That's my newest theory =)

The average college kid is more interested in strip clubs than stripping down society and building it back up so no, I will pass on their ideals until they gain experience out in the real world.

Something tells me the students you describe would mostly not be signing up to save the world. Minus a few jokers of course.

The premise of your article is wrong:
I was protesting at the G8 meetings and the "SiKo" I don't know how you people call it, the security meeting(?) not because I think NATO and UN are a bad hing, but because they are not doing enough, Focusing on wars instead of preventing them. So it is kind of funny, if you think about it, Bill Gates one of the wealthiest man on earth eating his own poop (allegedly) while others discussed at some point if our westerner wealthy poop wouldn't be enough to feed the world...
It is a sick planet, with sick people on it, but that doesn't make every idea we ever had a bad one. We are just half-arsed and lack comittment, in a sense of "oh yes that sounds good let us do it. Oh you meant actually DOing something... oh well no thanks, let's wait till it is too late, then they already killed eachother a bit and it is less dangerous and expensive."

As far as governments go, Canada is pretty dope. Up until Harper showed up anyway.

As far as Gates... f him. Thanks for the publicity. I hope that there was a wider audience to his "wisdom" than those that would scream conspiracy, and I double hope that it is not too late for a grass-root movement that could benefit from it.
And I will double down for the nay-sayers. Universities is the only place; in my mind, that this can be possible.

Is AI even needed. I was thinking an agreed upon program that can be audited democratically or something along those lines.

F Gates and F AI.

I'm not sure what the fuss is over.
If you read the context he's referring to an epidemic.
As in, if we had a one world government our preparedness and ability to tackle an epidemic would be much better.

To the ignorant ones who state '' why should we listen to Bill Gates? '' I don't know, the richest man in the world for a decade? donated billions (the most ever) to charity and poverty, created the very systems we use today to run majority of our planet.... who would you rather take advice from? Kim Kardashian or Bill O'Reilly?

I will not thrive in a new world order. I know it'll be totalitarian in nature. How do I know this? They tooled for that contingency. They want to tell you what to do and how to think. If you don't go along with the program, you'll be sent away for reeducation. That's what the militarized police world wide are for. It is going to be a reality. It'll be either by consent or force.

Are you going to die on your feet or be a slave on your knees? Do you really want some rich bastards making all your decisions? Bill Gates fell into some luck when he bough DOS for 50k. That doesn't make him gods gift to humanity. I think he should practice what he preaches and euthanize himself for eugenics purposes. He can use those genetically modified mosquitoes. He can be his own guinea pig. Delusions of grandeur with a tad bit of Narcissus Complex sums up Bill quite well.

There already is a one world government. The discussion among the higher ups is. Which faction gets to be "president", and whether or not to let the vassals in on it.
