It is obviously aliens!!! They have seen how we are destroying the planet with global warming, and have turned the sun down. Not for the reasons you may imagine though, oh no
They are just waiting for us to do the real, irreversible damage, then WHAM!!! They turn the sun back up again and we are literally toast.

Either that or it's just that the sun has gone quiet, as it is wont to do, and because we don't know why, we panic and think the end of the world is nigh.

The source of this article comes from a site called Ice Age Now and the writer/architect who owns the site and wrote the article is adamant that a new Ice Age is coming.

But does that make him right? six days of decreased solar activity does not mean another ice age is set in stone. Remember that time in 2011 when the solar flares fried satellites and affected power grids all over the globe? I don't because it never happened.

If anything is going to affect the global climate in the short term, it'll be the globe. If the C02 levels continue to rise then the temperature will like it has done so in the past, and if we get major Volcanic eruptions then the temperatures will drop like it has done so in the past.

In short, our planets' climate is a far greater threat than the sun.

CO2 does trap in heat, but the claim from Global Warming alarmists is that the effect is exponential in magnitude when it's really linear. So you can get a small amount of warming from increased CO2, but not nearly enough to cause the effects that warmists are worried about. You also have consider that Earth has had much higher levels of atmospheric CO2 in Earth's climate past and there were none of the devastating impacts were are told will occur.

Also, the sun's lowered activity will have a lag time before we will see it here. We're just now getting to where we might start seeing that impact. The sun has been in a period of heightened activity and that extra energy has caused a lot of heat. Water is an effective heat storage. We see that heat bleeding off into the atmosphere and maintaining things.

But if nothing else, the lack of significant El Nino activity should be telling us that the regimes has switched and are switching to something else, something not governed by heat.

Even within the larger cycles of ice ages and warm periods, there are myriad ups and downs during the larger rises and falls of temperature on earth (mini ice ages and warming periods). This could be one of those, this could be nothing--100 years or less of truly accurate and consistent observation of the son really doesn't indicate a climate trend one way or the other. This is just another piece found to the 10,000-piece puzzle.

I read an article a couple of days ago about this subject, I wish I could find it, anyhow it was discussing the cycle we are in right now as possibly having occurred around 250 years ago or so, they were not so sure about an ice age, but it was saying that the summers may be shorter and the average world temperature might drop 1 degree, something to that effect, if I find the link I will post it.

I think the big worry here is, if global warming is occurring, as in damage we are doing to the environment that should cause the world to heat up, and at the same time the sun is quiet which should cause the earth to cool off, then the sun's activities or lack thereof might result in obscuring the permanent damage we are doing to our environment. If such is the case, then we when the sun stops taking a nap, we'd be boned.

Is hard to prove we're doing damage that is causing the world to heat up, when something else is acting to cool the world off simultaneously and in doing so preventing the environment from demonstrating the damage that is occurring by veiling it with a temporary band-aid.

If both these things are true, it's not the "ice age" we need to worry about, but what comes after it.

Lol, but the important thing is how do I reconcile this with the big global warming scare!?

Answer: when anyone mentions global warming I always blame the Sun, but when no one's looking I remind them the Sun is entering a cooling phase/ice age/we're all gonna die.

PS global warming is just a big scare tactic in case I didn't mention that.

Right and we on the "Global Warming Brigade" (ewww GWB for short) will be oh so sad and silent because the earth isn't gonna heat up...

What!? What!?

I'll be thrilled if we enter a solar induced cooling phase, won't you? LOL
If we lose a degree that will knock out the warming we've had so far. That'd be amazing... a chance to get sht straight before the cooling period ends. A hundred more years to change our ways. A hundred more years to evolve, shift the paradigm or just plain old stop being so stupid.

I hope this is true... bring it sun!

We are supposed to be exiting the solar max, readings like that should be expected. I suppose it is good doom porn anyway, It's been pretty dry lately other than normal conflicts between big groups of people trying to seize power..

I hope the glacier bypasses the UP this time.

Technically we are still in an ice age. We are just not experiencing a period of glaciation at the moment. One of the reasons global warming would be such a bad thing is that weather, climate, and various things with the oceans etc already historically suck when an ice age officially ends. We are not quite sure what happens when stupid psychotic apes speed up the process and jack its metaphorical veins with metaphorical meth pcp and steroids but the common consensus is mostly pretty negative. If another period of glaciation IS around the corner though, I'm not personally too worried. It's not the worst thing that could happen right now. a reply to: Bloodydagger

Ice ages are a natural occurrence and take A LONG time to happen.
We won't be seeing an ice age in our lifetimes, nor will our children see it.

Climate change is a normal thing that has happened many times throughout our history.
Its what has created many of our landscapes.
Glaciers and ice ages happen...fact.

I am not worried one bit because I will never see an ice age...only the changes in climate, which to me are minimal as an outdoor enthusiast who is ready for anything.

You are neglecting ocean acidification and hypoxicification... god... think I said that right... it starts with a little too much co2 which the earth can handle, but year after year of a little too much means the earth can do less and less about the imbalance. That's where that exponentially growing snowball thingy happens. Yes earth's atmosphere has had higher concentrations of co2 in the past, but those were times like when the Permian extinction happened. You might want to reresearch that one. Some would consider that a devastating effect of a little too much co2.

Your totally uneducated on this topic and i've post information in probably five threads recently that refute exactly everything you just said in your last post.

You have no idea what your talking about.

This is why they do not call it global warming anymore.......It is climate change and covers everything. Truth be told if these scum bags actually cared they would go after real things like..........

1.......Tepco in Japan

2.......Fracking in the US

3......BP in the Gulf of Mexico

4......Strip logging in the North and South America

5......Monsanto....This is a big one and it is global.

These are the very real problems facing this planet.

OK I got it...if the SUN is cooling and the Earth IS indeed a living entity,MAYBE it is heating up to COUNTER the cooling sun...

OR I am just a silly soldier as usual.

Do not get me wrong I really dislike him.

Well, if increases in CO2 cause global warming like these wankers want us to believe, we better start dropping the price of gasoline fast and start driving cars with big-ass V8's, V10's and V12's. I already have a 5.7 litre V8 so I'm good to go! I can even throw a dozen or so bags of sand in the back of the pickup and make even more CO2! We all have to do our part in increasing the CO2 content of the atmosphere to save the species LOL.

Reminds me of the "coffee is bad" one year and then two years later "coffee is good," then butter is bad, eat margarine and then butters good and then eggs are bad and then they're good. It's just marketing to increase revenues in different sectors over time, same thing here with "climate change." It's all BS and our lame stream media couldn't spit out the truth of anything even if their collective mouths were full of it (of course that applies to governments as well).

Cheers - Dave
