Our Pups Are Arriving

My dog SA, is finally delivering her litter tonight. She is a dog I took in the day after this past Christmas. She was in heat at the time, and apparently was got by a male dog while she was running around.

She kept getting bigger and bigger, and finally she went into labor earlier today.

Looking at the pups shes delivered so far.....they are black with distinct brown markings on them. I remember that a few weeks ago, I shooed away a Rottweiler that had wandered up on my land.

Guess I know who the father is now.

She's now up to 5....and it looks like she might still have a couple more to deliver.....

The "201" on her sides (both sides).

SA (short for Secret Agent, due to the numbers), is an American Fox Hound.

We have people in my area that go fox hunting with hounds. They someitmes have the dogs run off on them. In SA's case I think she ran off because she was in heat.

Over time the number will fade as she sheds her coat and grows new ones.

How adorable!!! Um...what are you going to do with all those puppies? That's a lot of homes to find. Will you be keeping any?

I'm afraid I can't. I already had 2 large dogs when SA showed up.

I already have a few people interested in the puppies, and my neighbor behind me, who raises Husky/Wolf hybirds, is going to help me find homes for the others when it's time.

Thank you for rescuing her. I'm sure you'll use great care in finding good homes for the pups. I would suggest a written contract preventing the adopters from giving them to anyone else except back to you should they decide to not keep them.

She appears to be doing well, just tired. She started labor this morning and it's now 11 pm here.

That is good to hear. Now once the pups are weaned off of Momma, get her fixed. LOL

I have rescued countless animals through the years and gave them a good and loving home. I am happy that you rescued your Momma dog.

I don't know if it's just me, but I think freshly made puppies have the nicest breath I remember it distinctly when my brother's doggie had some pups.

Shame it doesn't last though haha
