UHERSKY BROD, Czech Republic, Feb 24 (Reuters) -

" A local man shot dead eight people in a restaurant in an eastern Czech town on Tuesday and then killed himself, in the worst peacetime shooting in the country's history, officials said.

The interior minister said the attack was done by an "insane murderer" and was not an act of terrorism

The attacker called a national television channel before he started the shooting, a reporter who took the call told Reuters.

"He said he was being bullied, no public institutions would help him, and that he had a gun and hostages and that he would deal with it his own way," said Pavel Lebduska, head of regional broadcasting at Prima channel.

He said the man had given his name but the station would not reveal it for the time being. He alerted the police immediately. "

Sounds like everyone missed the signs that guy was undoubtedly exhibiting. Then he finally broke.

"The man fired about 25 rounds..."

Eight dead and one severely wounded for 25 rounds fired suggests a shooter with professional training.

They say this is not a 'terrorist' attack, as there was no political motive. But if the Czech government comes back with new laws against private gun ownership then you will have a political motive, and hence this can be considered an act of terror--by the Czech government against its own citizens!! Hmm.... where have I seen that before?

New details released:
A police patrol arrived on the spot in ten minutes, but had to take cover as the man started shooting at them. ...
Stránský writes on the police website that the police negotiator talked with the 63-year-old attacker on the phone and he was trying to found out what exactly happened. ...
The attacker legally owned two guns, a revolver Alfa and a pistol CZ 75B, both of which the police found in the pub, Stránský said later today. ...
The tabloid Blesk has identified the gunman as Zdeňek K, a 62-year-old unemployed electrician.
Special police units came to the scene. Police President Tomáš Tuhý sent a special unit to Uherský Brod.

What is the purpose of sending a 'special police unit' to the scene long after the crime is over? Why do I get the feeling this 'special unit' was already in the town when the shooting happened?

"Interior Minister Milan Chovanec... said in reaction to the shooting that the number of Czechs with firearms might be too high."

Here it comes!!

"Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka.... asked (Interior Minister Milan)Chovanec to supervise personally the police investigation."

The feds take charge, as usual in these whack shooting incidents.

Timeline: the incident lasted almost an hour and a half:
12:38 The police received a call that a man entered the Družba restaurant and opened fire...
14:16 According to the police, the attacker was still alive and armed inside the pub at this moment.

Like most of the other whack shooters, this one had a history with psychiatry:
She said her son was mentally ill and was treated by doctors but she did not know any details about his possible diagnose or treatment.

The proposed changes to Czech law clearly show the agenda, and are eerily similar to what they are trying to do here in the US:
The Interior Ministry also wants to extend the police powers to immediately seize firearms and a license from a person sent to an extraordinary medical checkup.
