The purpose is to further purify the air in your house\apartment. I've been doing this for 2 weeks now, and the difference it has made is remarkable.

I also use good filters in the furnace, but the dust in my house was still terrible. The fan\filter setup is catching
the airborne junk like you wouldn't believe. I run 2 of them several hours\day.
