My job entails entering peoples yards ( legally allowed to do so ) Normally if no one is home we don't go in but if the place is empty and we have access we do . Today was an empty house day . upon getting there we did the usual paperwork and started doing our tests . Soon the neighbour turned up and started asking a lot of questions . Seems shortly after we arrived a Task Force 2 Van connection had appeared on her wireless computer connections . We convinced her we were not the police and resumed working . She stayed a while merrily chatting away saying how happy she was the neighbours had moved out as she was able to rent the house next door and was moving in the next week (both houses owned by the same person ) Along came her friend , they grabbed a wheelie bin from the house we were working on , entered the shed and took . One electric fire , no plug , 6 bags of premix concrete moisture affected and solid , 2 used cans of paint , one with lid partly open .Well it is fair to say we were more than amused and we just had to tell her . You do realise that you are going to take all that back when you move in . Her sad reply was , i didn't think that out to well did i . Now they were never going to get away with the spoils of war and i guess the right thing to do would have been to try and stop them . But i am sorry , my job can be quite dangerous and tense at times and these 2 just made my whole week . Darwin awards , no one died , but certainly candidates for worst robbers of the week .

I read your post a few times and remain confused.

If they purchased the house, then how is it they are stealing?

Ha that makes a bit more sense. Idiotic indeed, but if the owner cared about such items I doubt he would have left them for the renters. You can't fix stupid

So what you are saying is you failed to report a crime because you were honey potted? Classic Kim Jung Un move.

No not saying that at all but that fact certainly didnt go against them . I expected to get flamed for this and i dont give a rats tossil . If people cant see the humorous side of this they really have to stop being hit with the sad stick .

It sounds like they were doing a little touch-up work before they moved in, brainfarted, and took their supplies with them.

Like you said, they were hot, so...

The concrete I can understand, I've seen people use concrete that's hardened in the bag, as rocks in a ornamental garden. You can paint them realistically or what ever color you like.
Hey! Maybe that's why they took the paint too!
Honestly, I think people just have a "finder's keeper's" sort of attitude. They see anything found as useful, even if it's not and especially if someone left it when they moved out.

Odd job you have. Must make for some really crazy stories! Some guys come onto my property that I don't know and...well...the story doesn't end well.

From my position, having had to dispose of concrete/cement bags that had turned into stone, and throwing away used paint with loose lids, etc., I can't see where that stuff was been "stolen." Seemed like a bit of "taking out the trash" to me and you said yourself it went into a trash container. That aspect seems to make sense to me more so than accusing her of "robbery."

LOL some people are completely missing the point.
If she was moving in there, there was no reason to "move" that stuff!

I would have laughed at her too. Was she a blonde? LOL
