I recall the disaster, although I really don't know about the rest.
The Internet is full of information, but also full of crap, so you must really prove or disprove what you're saying here.

I sure as heck know Cuba didn't get them out.
The ANC had Cuban doctors in SA at a stage.
Totally useless.
They were all sent home, and several tried to defect.

The ANC has also tried to send medical students to Cuba, but not even people from our poorest communities wanted to stay there.
Despite the previous issues they're sending more, and we also give loans to the dirt-hole.

If Cuba and China pulled those poor men from a mine then I'd love to hear it.
I won't hold my breath however.

Wonderful commie plumbing!

She was unhappy to find she shared a “small” room with 10 girls. The set-up in their residence was “a torture, unhygienic and disgusting”. She shared a toilet and bathroom with 60 girls in their block.

“When we used toilets we were not allowed to flush down toilet paper, to prevent sewerage blockages. We would throw the… paper in a bucket, which was collected once a day.”

Quite an improvement on usual communist "latrines"?

I did not say that China and Cuba sent people to the Chilean mining disaster. I said that they sent doctors to the Ebola struck regions in west Africa!

Personally, I'm sick of the propaganda on every side (there's more than two). Our society exists within a veritable zocchihedron of complete b.s., and in my opinion, we'd all be far better off if all special interest groups, and government interference in the average life disappeared.

We have no idea what socialism looks like in South Africa?
We've had a Marxist party called the ANC in power since 1994, many of who's leaders were trained in Soviet Russia.

With all due respect sir, don't try and lecture me about communism.

You've just stirred together Marxism, Communism and Socialism. They are all different. So I suspect you do need a lecture.

It is quite clear from your previous posts that when you write socialism you are thinking communism.

Look at the nordic countries for examples of modern socialism......and it works. In fact it works far better than the laissez-faire capitalism that pervades western countries. When the richest countries in the world have food banks and soup kitchens then you have a broken system. Please don't give me the usual rant about it's all their fault for not blah blah blah. That's a worn out rant.

Funny that right wingers are always talking about personal responsibility yet always blaming one group or another for their personal woes. You can't blame anyone but yourself for the position you find yourself in, in life. Grow up

I don't consider myself a right-winger.

I'm more concerned about the radical left, and how "anti-capitalism" and other leftist jargon is used by people as sloganeering, usually people who think they are promoting human or environmental rights.

Yet, not a single regime that actually promoted those rights has come from Leftism.
In fact that language is typical of dictatorships and states that hunted down dissidents.
I would just like people to be more critical.
I'm not blaming anyone for anything.

I am concerned for the future though.

How can you call yourself not a right winger then only call out the left wing on its extremism? The right wing is just as guilty of its own versions of extremism that works to the detriment of liberty. Keep in mind, the Patriot Act is right wing legislation.

Just wait until the Republicans take over the government again, we'll have 8 years of right wing lunacy again.

I can't really talk much about US political partisanism.

I think a healthy democracy needs people from all positions, whether it's the US or social democracies like the Nordic countries (who are certainly not anti-capitalist).

The extreme right is usually associated with fascism, intolerance and issues like antisemitism.
If they had to stand on a street corner with fascist or ultra nationalistic insignia a lot of people might avoid or confront them.
Yet, the Leftists march and protest with flags that represent regimes that murdered millions of people.
However, their lack of criticism of despotic regimes, or the use of North Korean sloganeering (which represents millions who died in socialist concentration camps) is rarely critiqued.
Especially in the academies one finds ideologues who only blame the US and Israel for all the world's problems.
In Britain a student organization even refuses to condemn ISIS, because that would be Islamomophobic.
Here in South Africa Leftist fascism has even called for the expulsion of Jewish students from a university. t-south-african-university/

What is the future when these Leftist fascists have so much influence?
In South Africa the Leftist parties won't even let each other speak (the EFF and ANC), and they also shouted down another party in our province.
The police had to be called to Parliament to restore order twice already.
Whenever the Leftist students riot they intimidate others to join them, which also happens in strikes.

There is no tolerance, freedom of speech or any kind of social advancement when Leftists take control.
People who are moderately liberal and left-wing should do more to at least question these people and their propaganda.

Vladimir Jaffe - the former socialist citizen - has an interesting series of YouTube clips where he engages socialist Occupy protestors in the US with his experiences of living in Soviet Russia.

It's fine to be a true Leftist.
Just be honest and say you support a totalitarian system, or system that has consistently led to repression.
Otherwise explain in detail how it will be different this time.
Don't hide behind fancy words like homophobia, racism and that "anti-capitalism" will stop kids from starving. (In what regimes are they starving?)
There was no homophobia in Cuba, North Korea or under Stalin?
If not capitalism then what alternative works?
And if you own private property and support this, you are simply insincere.
Property is theft, after all.

Sounds like overly political bs to me. Your life must be miserable. How about if you live your life and let everyone else live theirs? Sounds to me like you are just saying "people who think differently than me are" insert stupid political term such as libtard or whatever douchey word you choose to use.

Get over yourself.

You of course are the embodiment of reason and tolerance.

Otherwise I won't get into a personal tit-for-tat session with my fellow members, because it's against the T&C.

I'm looking forward to hearing your opinion on anything regarding the discussion, which is pretty broad by now, whatever abstract terminology people have used.

There is no freedom no matter which radical ideology takes place. In far right countries freedom is suppressed through religion. Maintaining freedom requires a good balance of both left and right ideology because if you swing too far in either direction, you lose freedoms.
