Sig m400p in .300 blackout, odd issue after only a few rounds..

That's my bet.

Don't mess with it in any way -- it is a factory defect or the result of the local shop's "customizing." Send the photos directly to SIG with a description so they know what they are looking at and ask them how to proceed. The local shop's only function will be as an FFL that can ship and receive the rifle. If they seem nervous about it, look for a guilty gunsmith.

So sig got back to me, said its not an issues. It's a break in thing.

"My gunsmiths were able to take a look at the photos. The wear you are seeing is normal. The carrier cam pin hits that spot when it unlocks the bolt. It’s a metal part hitting aluminum it will wear down. Nothing to worry about."

This seem right? It looks like he's gonna take it to a gunsmith just to make sure.

Is this a piston gun? Are you using cheap steel cased ammo?

The m400 has a gas system I'm pretty sure, and Remington ammo.

not in .300 BLK--that's a relatively new round that either requires new brass or cutting down old brass from .223 and re-sizing. Can't imagine trying to cut down some steel cases, and steel cases just can't be readily reloaded.

Good info to know.....Thanks. I am pretty sure steel can not be reloaded. From the pics the OP posted this looks far worse than normal wear and tear. My ar15s look nothing like that inside the chamber. Light marks that is all.

That sounds like a load of # to me if I'm honest. I'd get a second opinion elsewhere.

Ya we've corresponded more and he reassured me that it's normal so my buddy is going to get someons else to put eyes on it.

My next 2 guns I'm going to purchase are sig so it definitely let a little air out of my balloon but we will see, no judgments yet.
